Some of the black paint has rubbed off on the inside driver door handle on my 89. I already have the door panel off to remove the side mirror as I'll be getting the car painted.
So, I was thinking of painting the handle. But I got to thinking it might be easier to just replace the handle with a good used one. I see it is attached with rivets. Anyone know what size rivets to use?
i've been thinking about taking mine off to paint em.looks like the rivet is about 3/16 inch or so,but thats just a guess.i figure on putting a bolt on in place of the rivet.
Paint will not hold up....tried that. Powder coat the thing or pick up a used one in great shape. I bought two in great shape from a guy I only needed one...I have the other in the C4 F/S section...check it out.

Thanks for the offer, but I ended up buying a pair of solid black handles from a 95 for $15 shipped.
I think I'm just gonna replace it. Whatever paint will probably just end up coming off. I can get a good used one for cheap.
I'll just take it to my local parts store that has a bunch of rivets and see if they can match me up some.
Though, their rivet gun is $30. And I've read of people here getting one for like $5-$10. Where do you guys get the rivet guns that cheap at?
Harbor Freight has a good rivet gun. I've read that some people repackage the HF gun and sell it for double. It costs maybe $10 and sign-up on their website to get e-mail discounts. They send out 20% off entire purchases coupons regularly.
