about to wax my car today, i always take it off by hand, but today i picked up a buffer. Is okay to buff it off? and what directions should i go in with the buffer to remove the wax?
Are you using a paste wax? Is the wax formulated to be used with a buffer. Better be sure it's compatible or you may end up with a mess.I usually use Meguire's swirl remover with a sheep skin head & then apply Zaino by hand.

Forget the buffer..nothing but potential problems. Wash your car with DAWN dishwashing soap and rinse completely then rub the finish and if it's not as smooth as a babies but (or4skin) rub paint with clay bar keeping surface wet with water or a 5 minute spray. Clay does not require a lot of pressure to do the job. You'll feel the surface getting smoother fast. I learned the DAWN trick from Zaino.

Yep...well said. Dark color cars are a pain (swirl marks can never be fully removed)...stay with the hand and the Zaino. Its so easy to put on and take off I would not even think of buffing.
If you're goimg to use a buffer get a good one wth a clutch on it. Adams polishes has a good free DVD that shows alot about detailing cars. I saw them at Carlisle-many good tips.
