Time for new shocks on my '95 6-spd. Drive about 70 miles a day, mostly highway to and from work. Any suggestions. I'm starting to feel like I drove a blender to work lately.
Thanks.
The C4 in general has a rough ride-Remember-it is a sports car not a caddi. I changed my oem bilsteins to kyb shocks. They give a slightly softer ride. If you race the car, I would go with bilsteins.
The C5 rides better
One more vote for KYB's if you are mainly a highway driver. If you do much AutoX or trips down the strip you need something more substantial. I am a cruiser and love my KYB's.
I'm running a set of VFR for a # of years now...forget where I got them from...but now the fillings stay in my teeth...much smoother ride & still handles very well.
The highest price and top of the line shocks would be Koni or Pfadt. These two are of incredible quality, but you'll pay for it.
Next would be Bilsteins. These are excellent shocks and are priced in the middle of the road.
At the lower end of the pricing scale are KYB's. These are very good shocks but not as good as the above. They cost about half of a set of Bilsteins.
Obviously, there are many more shocks to choose from, but most people buy one of the above. Buy within your means and what you want from your car. If you're planning to Autocross or road-race, you obviously won't buy the KYB's.

I had the bilsteins, they were a little too soft for me, I do alot of mountain driving, sharp turns and all. i went with the Koni's (red) adjustable on my 85. money well spent.
If I wanted stock I would put OEM Bilsteins back on it. They're a little soft (base model) for my tastes so planning to get QA1 adjustables at some point, but these are only 2 yrs old so I'm not in any rush
