We had dry warm 68 degree weather this morning and everthing in the Vette worked perfectly as usual (haha). During the day a pretty severe rainstorm doused us for a few hours and the Vette was sitting outside at the office.
When I started it up to leave for home the "SYS" light began to flash in the instrument cluster where the water, oil temp, fuel mileage normally appears. It would flash 3 times and then the normal info would return.
The owners manual says the CCM has detected a problem in one of its monitored systems and to go to a Chevy dealer for repairs.
Does anyone know how to trouble shoot this, or might something have just gotten wet and will clear up shortly? Everything seems to still work normally both electrically and mechanically.
The SYS light flashing is a sign of a low battery or a battery that's going bad. How old is your battery. Has your car been setting for any period of time?
Mine did it and after I drove it for awhile it never came back on. I did have a new battery.
The other reason the SYS light flashes is if you have an aftermarket radio in the car. I don't think that's your problem because you would have had that before today.
From what everybody says, don't worry about it. Just check you battery.
Check battery first, also, check your fuse box. I had a blown fuse. My front interior lights were out(because of the fuse), everytime I switched on the interior lights, the "SYS" would flash. Once I replaced the blown fuse, it stopped flashing.
All the fuses are ok, radio is the original Bose, but my interior lights are a bit dimmer than I remember with the engine off. I will check the battery tomorrow.
This looks like an easy fix.
Just as the SES light comes on when the ECM sets a code, when the CCM recognizes a fault, the electronic display will flash "SYS" and the CCM will set a code. Admittedly, a common cause of a CCM code is temporary low battery voltage. See my post to the thread about "resetting your computer" on this board for info on reading the CCM codes and clearing them (without disconnecting the battery).
