I am swapping out the interior in my 86 and finding that the majority of the plastic tabs on the bezel plates and console covers are all cracked or broken. Many of them can no longer hold screws. What have people done to deal with this without buying new covers. I am hoping this will also cut down some of the rattles I hear, if I can screw everything down like it is supposed to be. Thanks guys
If the pieces are only cracked and not broken off get some good quality plastic epoxy and apply it over the cracked areas on the backside of the bezel. Do not twist, bent, pry, or over tighten the screws when remounting bezels.
If its made out of ABS you can try putting ABS shavings in a squeeze type container like a mustard container then mixing it with MEK or Acetone until it makes a paste. Apply this to the problem areas and it will be as strong as the original. This is what a lot of people use to make custom interior pieces, especially for where the CD player goes.
