Default C4 vs. 928

How do the C4s stack up against the Porsche 928??

My cousin used to brag that he could beat a C4 with his 928.

Specs on a U-boat;

32 valve DOHC per bank, 90 degree V8, aluminum block and heads
Bore and Stroke: 4.09 x 3.46 in (100.0 x 85.9 mm)
Displacement:329 cu.in. or 5,397cc
Horsepower: 345@5,700 rpm
Torque: 369 lb-ft@ 4,250 rpm
Power to weight ratio: 13.1 lbs per horsepower
Compression ratio: 10.4:1
Cd: .34
Fuel system: EZH-LH

Pretty sure it could out run a bone stock 96 torch red LT1 with an automatic, if anyone you knew were to own one.

I test drove a couple of 928's, it depends on what year your talking about and if its a Auto or a Stick.
I test drove a 1985 auto with 295 hp the owner said.
It was no match for the vette off the line but if we where side by side going 50mph and we both stomped the gas he could pull alittle over a early C4, The car weighs more the the C4 too.
If your talking about the 90- 93 version with a stick, its allot faster car than you think.

I like all types of cars so you can hate on the 928's if you want, people hate on vettes too....

If memory serves me correctly, the 928 is the car the 85 Corvette beat in the slalom? The later ones were high 13 second cars. When you look at the 928 it becomes pretty obvious why people buy a Porsche. It all about a emblem. No one in their right mind could think this car has nice lines. Im convinced it engineers spent their evenings at the local bar , drinking to many Heineken's.

No, the 928 is not even considered to be in the same class as the C4. The competition was the 924 and 944. Both of which the C4 can best.

True, but considering the power of the later 928s (91-93) and the cost factor, there was a Corvette to compete with the 928 - it was called the ZR-1. And that car would blow the doors off the 928.

What are we talking about?

A 924?

A 944?

A 928S4? Or a 79 928?

Which Porsche model versus a Corvette? And what C4 vette? What year , what model?

Here's a rediculous example: "My Plymouth can beat your Chevy"...ie my SuperBird can beat your Chevette.

There is a ton of information on these matters. Keep on searching and enjoying the spirit of performance cars.
