Default Bought my first c4

Hi all! I just picked up my 84 Corvette! I was pretty excited! My friend came over and told me that C4's were for dorks and cheapskates? The car is dark bronze with a bronze interior. I like the car but man the stigma behind these cars, did i make a mistake? I picked it up for 7500.00 with 35k for miles. It was an original owners car that had recently died. I think I did pretty good? But what gives?

I think you pay too much. Welcome to the C4 forum. Why did you buy a 84?

Nice find, don't worry about people who don't own one talking shizzle, it's your car.

Congratulations sounds like you picked up a nice car. I'll admit I was one of those people when I was looking for my vette. The mid to late 80s weren't even on the radar. The only cars of that type I had seen were either a piece of crap or had been pimped out. After being on the forum and seeing what they can look like when they are done right, I've changed my mind completely. I think they got a bad rap because of bad owners. Some of those cars are killer and Id love to own one. Enjoy

Congrats on the purchase. Don't let the negative talk get you down about your purchase. I have had my 84 for two years and I like it, and you know what that's the only thing that matters. When I do get another one someday,(C5 Z06) the 84 will still be here.....

Lets see some pics!!!!!

Sounds like you may need to get another friend as this one is as envious as they come. People who make comments like that usually don't the first thing about them and you will find plenty of them. As far as price, I think you got a fair deal with the very low mileage, rare color combination and one previous owner. If they sell very cheap they usually have many problems. Too many guys make price evaluations based on some of the beat cars that are out there and think most C4's are like that. Seems like more and more very nice early C4's like yours are showing up here. Be proud of it! It's a Vette!

Your neighbor is no friend. Just trying to build himself up by tearing you down.
Shine it up good and see all the compliments you will get at the first cruise-in/show and shine you attend.
Hold on to it and keep it stock. I remember when you could hardly give a 63 or 64 away. See what they are bringing now!

Price is a funny thing, everyone thinks the price they paid is always great and what anyone else paid is too much. I think the most important thing to consder is does your new C4 make you smile? If the answer is yes, the rest doesn't matter. Enjoy and welcome to the forum, more answeres here than you'll ever have questions for.

Welcome to the redheaded stepchild generation! I don't care what anybody else thinks - my C4 is far and away the most fun car I've ever owned. Enjoy!
