I have been looking for a thread on Window Tinting and I can't seem to find one. I have tried twice to tint my windows and I can't seem to get it right. I have experience with this before and had no problems and I am thinking I am using the wrong brand. Don't know the brand off hand but it came from Oreilly Auto parts. The last time I put it on everything was good but some discoloration around the edges so I ripped it off. I did clean it thoroughly before I started.
My question is this. What brand do you guys recommend? I am going to try one more time before I decide to take it someplace which I do not want to do if I don't have to. It's not the money, I just don't like anyone touching my vette unless they have to.
Well as for me I really like Llumar film and you will find that in many professional shops. Another good brand that comes to mind is Madico, but it has been several years since i have used there product. I always used the Llumar in my shops. As far as the discoloration it could have only been needing to dry out and would not be uncomon to see this from the time it is tinted for about a day, especially around edges. What did you use for application fluid? On my car i removed the door panels so that I could get the tint well below the feltline so i would not have to adhere to the threeday rule, lol. I used plenty of heat in order to cure the adhesive out. The back window is done in one peice and this is why I like the Llumar it can take the heat for dryshrinking the tint. Most films you find in the autoparts stores are made by either gila or 3-m, both lines do have professional quality films but the box tint as i refer to it is far from that. They are very thick films and this is my opinion asz to why they don mold well. Hope this information may help if you have any questions hit me with a pm.
Your right it does look good. They both look good. I'm going to try it one more time. When I get it done, and the weather cooperates I want to get pictures to post.
Thanks

I pretty much did it just the way the video shows. I think I was just be **** when I saw the discolorization on the edges. It probably just needed to dry more. One more time if not just to let my wife laugh at me.

Give it two solid days to cure before rolling down windows. It can take up to two weeks for it to completly dry depending on the humidy, weather, ect.
My solution was simple, took it to a shop and had it done.Maybe I am a klutz at tinting but I could never get it right. Much better to hire it done.
I have had several tint jobs at two different shops and nothing negative has come from it. I never even attempted to tint my own windows. That would be a expensive mess.
