Default LED Tailights

has anyone had any dealings with an Ebay vendor by the name of allintown. He is selling 30 light LED tailights for around $160.00 plus shipping. number is 390026650425. Seems kinda cheap compared to other places-any input would be appreciated.

Is he including a resistor for the bulbs or an electroninc turn signal flasher so the turn signals will flash correctly? LED draw very little current and the stock flashers need to see some resistance (current draw) in order to work.

With a stock flasher, the LED bulbs will cause the flasher to basically not work. Its like having a bulb burned out; the flasher will either flash very quickly or not flash at all. You can install an electronic flasher but depending on the year of car, the flasher is a royal PITA to access.

I am not familar with this seller but I have been runnning LED tailights on my 91 for 2 years now. They are very simular to this unit he is selling which are total led lens replacements vs. bulbs. All you need is an electronic flasher you do not need to install resistors. The Flasher unit is a challenge to get to the first time as you have to lower the drivers side hush panel to get to it. It clips into a retention bracket but a two prong connection and really no big deal. GC

I would think the "seller" needs to understand the requirements of the lamps and should/could offer either advice OR the correct flasher! If he doesn't he'd have nothing but bad/poor feedback. I didn't look at the auction, I've "no interest"!

Perhaps GC would offer up some information but I came up with an abundant number of "sources" in a 0.22 second search!!

You can get them at the same price at ecklers. They sell the Electronic flasher. I bought my entire system from them and I love them. Very reliable pieces and they are as advertised. Bright. No issues at all!

Working in a parts store, you should be able to look up the p/n for a replacement regular flasher. The books should have an alternative part number for an electronic flasher. Like most 2-blade flashers, they are going to be fairly generic.

You "should" not need an electronic flasher for the emergency 4-way flasher but you will have to test those flashers once you get the new lamps installed.

Here is the spare I have in my glove box maybe this will help you out in the cross referencing department

Let me state again... ALL that is needed is an electronic flasher. Nothing will work correcty without it. This includes brake lights, Turn signals and Emergency signals. The light pulses are erratic with the old fashioned mechanical flashing unit, in same cases they would not flash at all and/or just stay lit. Since I have been running these for more than 2 years on my DD I think makes me a pretty reliable source of information. Your mileage may vary. BTW yes my Backup lights/Reverse lights and Turnsignal lamps on my ride are also LEDS. I posted up my thoughts and experiences on my LED projects two years ago as well.

I have had mine on for a year as well and they are amazing. I wonder if they ever burn out? I have converted most of my lighting to LEDs. i just need to finish up the interior bulbs and I will be set.

Default number of LEDs in the tailights

Goldcylon, i like the looks of what you have done and am on the way to likewise. My next question is in your pics, is what is the number of LEDS in you units? As in my original post, the units i am looking at have 30 LEDS per unit, some only have 20 like on some of the vendor sites-which do you have and am i going to be the first one to try out this Ebay seller?
Thanx to all who have answered, i get my LEDs from www.superbrightleds.com. they have real fast shipping and the prices are more than fair.

Mine have 48 LEDS per lens, however my lens were $249.00 2 years ago for the set of four from Corvette South. In order to lower the price point they (Other vendors) have cut cost by using less LEDs. As you can imagne mine are pretty bright. That night pics you cant see several rows because I have chrome billet covers over the lights. The rest of my bulbs I also bought from SBLEDS and let me tell you they stand behind what they sell. I had a bulb that had an intermittent problem because it was loose in the housing. They sent me a replacement bulb in a few days all they asked for was the damaged bulb so they could sent it back to the factory for a credit. I find their prices to be resonable but not cheap. But in this case you get what you pay for.
