I paid $5900 for my 89 Last spring, It is not a convertible but it is a 6 speed with I was having a terrible time finding. It had about 100k on it but it was as nice as a 100k car could be. I think that 16K is a bit much but if it is perfect and what you are looking for then that is up to you. As for purchasing a C5 for 16K I am not sure where people are finding these cars. Any C5 I have seen for 16K has 150K on it or is salvage. I think you need to spend a little over 20 for a nice low mileage C5

I know of one dealer here in SLC that has one 98 and 2 99s (one is a manual vert), two of them manuals, all listed at $16,900 each. I spoke to the dealer last weekend and any could be had for just north of $15K, I'm looking hard at the 99 vert with 50K miles. I've seen them for less in the paper here. Just have to look a little harder........
thank you all for the input on this 89 vette i have been doing my homework here in fla and yes this is well over priced. i stoped a a vette parts shop in Dade city (corvette generation ) and had a long talk with the owner and he also told me that it was to much for that year even with the modifacations. so i gusee i will stay on a quest to find the right car... thanks again
