I left that shiite-hole 2 years ago. I was born in Solvang, spent 30 of the 42 years of my life there, and thought I would retire there.

I got SICK of people telling me I should learn Spanish (and besides, messy-cuns don't speak Spanish, they speak a pidgin-version of it- people who *really* speak Spanish laugh at Mexicans).

I got sick of watching these illegal-alien parasites come in, and trash wherever they lived- 20 of 'em in an apartment, then they'd go out to the hot-tub with a bar of soap! They'd play their deep-South mexican music at high volume, 24/7 (if you've not heard it, think of PT Barnum circus music that someone's imitating- BADLY.)

They harassed my wife (blonde hair, blue eyes, a looker), incessantly.

When my first daughter was born, I decided that there was NO way I was gonna' let her be exposed to those vermin. So I put out my resume', got picked up by a reputable company, and moved to Pittsburgh...

Many of us native Californians refer to the state as Kalifornia- with a "K," as in KOMRADE. California is a socialist hell-hole. It has been become a war-zone, a dump, and a haven for drug-dealers, illegal aliens, sex perverts/rapists, thieves and scum.

Do NOT make the mistake of thinking California still matters.

 

I would think that 25% sales ratio could be said of many car models, just the population alone plus year round driving in good weather would be a main factor. How many Corvettes do you think they sell in Utah, Montana, and Idaho I would bet not many? But you do have some silly laws and the bad part is other states see that and want to copy it. The air check thing is new on me but I did read where they want to stop Plasma TV 's over 46 inches because they generate to much heat and raise A/C & electrical pricing. The Land of Fruit's Nuts & Wacko's. But who am I to talk if you turned the county on end all the slime would slide down here into Florida, home of the witness protection program and the Jerry Springer talent pool.

Pittsburg? I heard they cleaned it up - a guy in my neighborhood moved from there (must of been kicked out) during the height of the real estate frenzy. The property now has falling down fences, a rat invested Yard full of dog crap (with a spa no less so he can take it all in), a Basketball net in the Public Right of Way and enough problems that in spite of the current Market, he's drug down property values another 50 or 60K (a foreclosure would be a blessing).

Most places have their drawbacks. I grew up the great white surburbia of DC - but I'm water guy so I've also lived in Annapolis, Md - Cape St. Claire area where some seemed to think that wealth meant having two cars up on blocks - San Francisco and San Diego. The only place I'd think of moving to is Sydney, Australia but at my age (57) they won't let me stay (and besides, it's tough driving on the wrong side of the road).

My point was that the Vette (along with Ferrari, Porsche and most high end low volume cars) probably wouldn't exist without the volume of sales out here and if those of us who own them are fruit and nuts, so what - I've been called worse.

The VP of my division asked me, a few months after I'd arrived (and in the middle of a blizzard), if I'd ever move back. I told him the only way they'd get me back, is "kicking and screaming."

I don't see mexicans here, and everyone speaks English. The people are nice, not rushed like in Santa Clara. Yeah, my property taxes are higher, but the housing prices are about 1/5 of what they were, in Kalifornia. No PC-freaks running around, telling me that it's bad to drive my car (which gets better mileage then their overpriced, underpowered, gussied-up SUV), or that I should eat "organic," (which is about the stupidest fad in the world), or that I should do anything else...

In short, people here, don't feel the need to tell each other what to do, to say, to think or drive. We do what we want, and if you don't like it...? Well, then it's your problem.

In Kalifornia, if they don't like what you do, they'll pass some new BS law, or sick the smog-dogs on you...

Oh, and one other thing... I got my CCW out here, for the princely sum of $25. Went in, filled out a form... And voila, two weeks later, it's done.

In Kalifornia, it's illegal to have sufficient weaponry to defend yourself or your family.

Well, at least the politicians here in West Virginia are concerned with more important things than that. You guys hitting CA pretty hard. The black paint thing is nuts and now they want to smog my 93 Ruby every year, also nuts. Living in the Mojave Desert outside of LA, I would never buy a black car unless I want to fry eggs on the dash.

But I have been in CA for 20 years and overall it is a pretty neat place to live. Driving 1 hour, I can snow ski, swim at the beach, hike in the mountains, explore the desert, yada, yada.

I am a transplant from the Midwest and have lived in other states, quality of life is overall pretty good in CA compared to many other states. Especially if you can get past the occasional nutty ideas.

 

In my opionion some of you are right and some of you are wrong. Personally me a 22 year old finishing college, I do think that CA has some really bad car laws. Man i wished I lived in a state where smog wasnt so complicated. Plus the tickets here are crazy! Im starting to hate cops now, because I get pulled over for no reason! Just because im Mexican cops think I have no license and no insurance. Somethimes I feel like leaving this dump and going back 2 Mexico or something, but Im shure over ther is the same. Life is just complicated somethimes. To make things worst I did not choose to be born in the USA. Heck if I could go back in time I would have told my parents to move to Canada, Europe, or any other place other than here. Hopefully when I graduate from Engineering school. Ill move to a place where there isn't so much hate. I hate it when white people really hate on Mexicans, knowing that there just dirty as us, bucause they took the whole North American continent from the Indians.. Life sucks somethimes! But we gota just move on with it.. OH and all you corvette fans, Enjoy your corvette! im enjoying the heck outa mine!

 

Please do not take offense to this, but if you want to leave the U.S. and move to Mexico, you know the way. The reason most cops think that Mexicans don't have insurance or a license is because most of them don't. I'm just stating a fact. You are the exception and good for you. If there were more like you then maybe the stereotype would stop. Again, if this country is so bad, you know how to leave it.

 

I was in my local dupont paint store today. Everyone in there is going to paint their car black now in honor of Kale fornia. I was buying black for my sons T/A.

I love CA. I love its weather. I love the coastline (it really is as beautiful as the pictures show). I love its mountains and deserts. I love its roads and the freedom the CHP "allows" us to get away with. I love that it is the only state they allow motorcycles to split lanes (I also ride sportbikes and commute on a motorcycle). It is a beautiful and wonderful state to own and drive a Corvette or motorcycle. I get to enjoy the acceleration, the handling, and the weather allows you to do so year round.

But of all its goodness, I absolutely cannot stand CA government. I cannot stand and hate CARB and the EPA. Both are run by environmentalists who have been given massive powers without any oversight. The politics in CA are overrun with the same types of people. The state has been nearly completely pussyfied by its politicians and environmentalists and lawyers. The same politicians only recently passed HIGHER taxes across the board, raised the minimume wage, doubled the registration of ALL vehicles, and are currently withholding state income tax returns. All this because they say they have NO MONEY so they want more from the citizens of the state. If there ever was a state that needs the 2nd Amendment used for its "true" purpose, CA is one of them!

Have you ever been to Europe? You think they'll love you there? Most Western European countries have very strict immigration policies simply because they do NOT want people like you going over there! If you were born a foreigner, you will ALWAYS be a foreigner. In the US, it is not so. If you love this country and show it and live it and act it, the country will love you back. Look at it history. From the Italians to the Irish, every large migrating nationality that entered this country received grief from the locals and native born. You got it easy because now you got laws that protect you. You even get to drive Corvettes! You should go visit your native Mexico....let's see how long your Corvette stays in your possession and/or how long it takes for you to get kidnapped. Mexico City is known as the kidnap capital of the world. Worse than Colombia. So how dare you even compare the USA with Mexico! Do some research and find out how the Mexicans treat their immigrants from Central America! You think you're being treated as a 2nd class citizen by the "white people" and cops? Think again!

If they really wanted people to use less AC, then they would remove the law regulating window tinting in driver and passenger windows. Their regulation is the cause of vehicles using more fuel to power the AC.
