It started working!!
Hi everybody! Last week i replaced the consel trim plate in my 84. The cigarette lighter has never worked since i bought the car two years ago. It wasn't that big of a deal, since i don't smoke in my car. Anyway, i had to unplug the cigarette recepticle to remove the trim plate. I cleaned it and everything else that looked dirty, Put everything back together and just for the hell of it, i tried the lighter and now it WORKS!!!
Now i can hook up radar!! Has anybody else had stuff magicaly start working?

When I bought my radar detector the cigarette lighter didn't work, I didn't know because I had never had the lighter, the guy who sold me the detector took a Dremel to it and polished of the corrosion and now it works fine.

It is not surprising that something works after it is just cleaned. After 30+ years in industrial maintenance I would say at least 50% of my trouble calls have to do with the lack of cleaning. I get paid well for doing simple stuff.
