Creative cops

When I had to pay for my first ticket, and this was last october mind you, you should've seen the huge line outside of the courthouse. I had to stand outside for atleast a half hour, and I got there a half hour early in anticipation to this. Now the ticket I got was fair, I was going 15 over in a 55(in my DD), but she couldn't give me a break that my father was dying of liver failure and I had to see him in the hospital. I was upset..
But back to the point, I don't neccessarily believe that the police NEED to pull people over for bogus reasons when there's so many young drivers that do STUPID things! One girl I overheard said that she had the cruise control at 65 in a 55 and didn't _legally_ think she was speeding since it was set at that instead of her foot doing the driving. Another one I heard was he "had to get home in time for his favorite show".. Oh, and I even saw someone parked at the courthouse over the hashed lines. To think they might get another ticket while attending for their first? Nah, that couldn't happen.

Recently in the news you have heard about at least six officers being shot and killed with a couple of more being injured while doing their jobs which is protecting people like you. Next time you are stopped for speeding think about that and remember slowing you down is done in the interest of public safety
One road (CO 2?) goes west over the hogback ridge between Golden and Bolder had a 15 mph speed limit on the back side of the ridge. Having received a ticket the week before for 10 mph over (on another road) I went 15mph, (by gawd!
) all the way down the grade. By the time I got to the bottom, there were more than a dozen cars n trucks behind me, all blowing horns and making a fuss. There was a cop at the bottom...I got pulled over!! "Impeding traffic", the man said. I guess my point is, it really pisses me off when some condescending "individual" lectures me (us) on this board about the virtuousness of LEOs and speeding tickets being necessary to save ourselves from ourselves. I don't condone dangering public safety, so don't get me wrong. But, at the same time, don't even...EVEN try to pass off all speeding tickets being in the interest of public safety. With all due respect to LEOs and the work they do, to say they only give out tickets in the interest of safety is
(BTW, my bro retired as a deputy sheriff after 25 years, and my son was an LEO in GA for a time. So, I have nothing but respect for the people (most of them) and the job they do. And, I've ridden "shotgun" with them both on patrol...)
P.
So what do we do?
Better designed highways and local roads would help.
Fewer posted speed limits could be an option.
Police trained to "protect and serve" someone other than theirselves might help.
I think I'm going to use some of my local political contacts to start moving on this.
Maybe some of you could do the same.

And as far as the excuses remember we have heard them all ! And then some. So dont get upset if the cop doesn't drop to his knee's if someone is sick. Plus you rushing to the hospital isn't gonna save anyone ! But may kill another.

I'm not a LEO and don't have any in the family but know a few casually and they are decent guys. There are azzholes in any profession or group. It's even possible there is a higher percentage as cops - we all know some "bubba" who would LOVE to have that job so he can throw his weight around and be "official". But to generically hate all cops because a few are hard-asses is way off base. They don't write the laws but they do have an obligation to enforce them.
Not suggesting we do it here or things will really get out of hand, but I bet the COPS could tell some good stories about the people they pull over being azzholes, too!
I came across a CHP officer standing in the middle of the bushes on the center of I-5 30 miles from anywhere with his radar gun pointing at on coming traffic. If he would have caught someone speeding he would have to walk out into traffic pointing at them to pull over. If they didn't he would have to ran the length of a football field to where his car was parked. It was 107 outside that day. I really felt kinda bad for him (but that's because he didn't catch me LOL). Copper
I hate to think about your underwear. A little too much information sir.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
So, if you have the need to know why I'm on the C4 forum I will explain. In the past I have owned 8 C4's and truly love the design on the C4 and have a great respect for the evolution of the C4. I'm curently considering getting back into a C4 that needs some work. If I can get it for the right price it will be mine.
So if it is okay with you I would like to get information on the C4. Maybe you are in charge of the C4 section and can decide whom can participate.
I own a home in Norwood Park, Chicago IL and a home in Summerlin, Las Vegas NV.
Now I hope this explains why I'm on the C4 section and why I have 2 residences.

Including some guy from Canada who thinks you can only own 1 Vette and 1 house.
