I purchased a new belt for my 1992 - the one I bought was a Goodyear Gatorback.
My question is this, the factory one has grooves on both sides of the belt, and the new gatorback has grooves only on one side. My pulleys all have groves in them, is this going to be a problem? I put the new one on and it seems to be running fine but I'm concerned about slippage.
You definitely need the double-sided belt for your car. The flat side of the belt you have will eventually get torn up by the pulleys with the grooves.
If you search around, you should be able to find one at a decent price. $70 is a very steep price. Rockauto.com has a Gates belt (DK060674)for $37 or an AC-Delco belt (6DK674) for $43.
You can also try Gene at GMPartsHouse who is a CF supporting vendor.
