Default Well I did it!

I bought the B&B cat back exhaust and had it installed yesterday. It's louder than what you guys who told me to buy the Corsas said! I can't believe it, it actually hurts my ears cause one of them is in bad shape from playing rock guitar for 30 years. I was wondering what kind of hangers or washers I could put on it to try to dampen it some. Also maybe how I could get some sound insulation in there and what to use. I think part of it may be the install cause the muffler on the driver's side is touching the body a little, will this burn my car? That's no problem because the guy who did the install is a friend and would be glad to work on it again. I'm still impressed with the quality and the looks of the B&B though. Might have to start wearing earplugs!

You were told exactly what you were in for.

None the problem is in the exhaust system not the hangers or the washers

Remove the interior and the carpet and install dynamat

Over time yes and if the system is riding on the body anywhere it will add to your resonance issue inside the car.

Enjoy your B&Bs

..........you didn't listen. GET THE CORSA'S!
Don't feel bad you aren't the first one. I did the very same thing when I first got my Vette. If I were you I'd sell them and take your losses and GET THE CORSA'S.

Magnaflow isn't bad either. A not so pricey substitute that works pretty well. I can still talk to my wife in my car, (on second thought, should have got the B&B!)

Hey man, don't let them beat up on you. I installed my 3" B&B's a couple of weeks ago. I saw my friend with the Corsa last weekend and listening to both, he saddly admitted that his sounded more "European", what ever that meant. At our car meet, everyone thought the B&B's sounded better. I did have a contact rattle after the initial installation but we installed new rear hangers and muffler mounts, and used a little header wrap around the pipes where they passed over the vert's cross brace. The stock center hanger won't clear the two 3" pipes. That took care of those issues and now we just enjoy the real Corvette "non-euro" sound.

OK, let the trash-talk begin...

Did you go with the 3" or the 2.5"? I'm going to go with the 2.5" as I drive with the top down all the time. So the noise should not be a concern.

Wait till you have to take a long trip with the windows up. It's not bad now but after a few hours you might find it bothersome. Mine tends to be a little loud and if it's cold out and I have to drive with the windows up .

there's no crying in corvetteland.

why all the bawling about over a simple cat-back? loud are top-fuel dragsters, less than that is not loud unless you're a limp-wristed wimp.

get your mind right and enjoy the B&B's. its all for girls, comparatively speaking, so stop the fretting and get on with it.

hell, i did the screaming guitar thing way back, marshall half stacks.....and 30+ years of plain real loud metal everywhere i go, that includes going to work at 5:30 in the morning. so relax, turn it up, and enjoy life.

I dont know.. I would rather hear power coming from my engine instead of the exhaust.. I prefer quiet exhaust for sure. What are the power benefits when changing to an aftermarket exhaust system on say a stock LT1 and/or L98? I work with someone who has an LS1 camaro and he just put a borla on it (I think) and he said he lost torque but gained horsepower... That to me isnt very useful because im all about going the speed limit. I just like to get there as quick as possible sometimes =)

If you're not enjoying an exhaust on a V8, then you're missing the point.

Love my elims - I can hear what the engine's doing and sometimes it sounds better than anything on the sound system

it seems from the original post that most of the gang tried to tell you to go with the Corsa system. You were well warned.
