You will need to adapt the wiring from any aftermarket head unit to work in your car. You can go to Best buy and buy the harness for like $20 or go online any find it for even less.
I'm not too hip on aftermarket stereos. Is it a double-din that will fit in our c4's? I did buy a kit that adapts a single din nicely and even gives a small storage cubby below the head unit, but a full fitting unit would look nicer IMO.
Well you could go to a single DIN radio with the Metra install kit and the storage pocket like I did initially.
And then when you get some bucks together install a double DIN and upgrade. Thats what I did. Once you have the adapter harness there is really only two additonal wires.

My system was already butchered. I have an aftermarket Sony installed with an amp under the passenger seat. The original Bose is long gone. Bringing it back to original would most likely cost the same as buying a very sleek looking, not to mention feature-packed unit displayed above.
Yes when the cars not running the Service Engine light stays on until the car is started. As to the original Bloze crap I still have that if the "NEXT" owner wants to put it back in lol, but I doubt they will

You are right about the Bose System, I pulled mine out because of the cost to repair everything. I did find a TSB for my 90 from GM on the SES light for aftermarket radios. I used the two resistors and it worked. Aftermarket radio and no SES light.
