Default Jack Stands

I am considering purchasing a set of jack stands from Harbor Freight Tools. I am considering the 3 ton or the 6 ton stands. I was wondering if any one has used these or know of anyone who has? Would appreciate any comments or suggestions. Thanks.

No direct experience, but I use the cheapo 2-ton ones from Advance Auto all the time. I've seen the stands that HF sells and they look pretty similar. They've worked fine for me.

The lower capacity ones are lower when fully retracted and easier to fit under your low C4. Plus each corner will only need to hold 800-900 pounds of weight, 2 ton capacity is more than enough for a C4.

I personally use 2 ton stands because I had to lift the car too high to fit the 3 ton stands under the car

The 6 tons will give you enough clearance to do any work to include tranny removal.

If you think you will never do that level of work, 2-3 tons will be enough. These stands are enough to do suspension swap, header installation and all other minor "surgeries"

I have the Advance Auto 6 tons also. They work fine for me. Very well made and support the car great. The only thing I have found wrong with them is when you are lowering the center piece that supports your car........Don't get your finger under it and let it drop when you let it down! I've seen some two tons that I wouldn't get under a car with them supporting it. The base just isn't large enough to suit me.

I've got a 2 ton set (From advance auto) and the HF 6 ton set as well. I used the 6 ton when I had the car sky high for the lowering project, and use the 2 ton for oil changes, etc.

I have both from HF. I had my 4X4 F150 on the 2 ton set and thought it was a little shaky, they were extended all the way up. I used the 6 ton under the truck and it was rock solid.

I have the set from Harbor Freight in 3 ton. I used them this past weekend. They are orange with white platforms. They work great. No problems at all. I think they are worth the money. This is the only set of jackstands I have ever owned or used though.
