Default shutting down problem

hi
i have 1995 corvette ,i have this bad problem,
yeterday i started the warming up normaly , after warming up i went out to my work after one minute the car suddunly turned off , i restarted it again and went it my work , in the road i felt that the car is not normal some like it little bit heavy in performance and response, so when i arrived to my work, the turned off again and wont start,i tried many time , but no use, at last it started but hardly iahd to put my foot on the pedal giving it high rpm, i rode the car back to my house,in the road the car cuts out so i had to push the car for high speed so that i prevent it from shutting down in road.
tody i started it , the car was cold .
it started normaly but after 6 or 10 mintutes the problem went on the car turned off.

what couases this problem?

thanks in advance.

SALEH.

There are many posibilities. First thing is to do a couple of basic diagnostics.
1. Is it throwing a code?
2. Do you have fuel pressure and if so what PSI?
3. Do you have spark at all 8 plugs?

will.
i put the car on tech2 ,and it gived me crank position sensor faulse.
which is mean i have to replace anew opti spark DIS.
i did now replaced anew one and the seems to be fine but i noticed one thing in the idle the engine has alittile bit hesitation and when i put the transmition on R or D the rpm goes down ALSO littile bit and i feel like the hesitation increase then it returen to normal.
by the way the last opti spark was also new (repalced it before 4 months only and it's gone)
dont know why many distribitos damage so fast , here in kuwait we had many experince with even brand new opti's when we replace them they wont work, why?
im seriucely thinking of the msd opti spark in future.
i dont trust the AC DELCO ditribitors.

I would clear the code and see if it will return.

I do not think the code you got for the crank position failure is causing your problem. I think the sensor is used to detect misfires it those year engines.

But your symptoms don’t have any of the normal or classic indications of a bad opti. As long as there is no water pump leak. It does though sound like a possible ICM (ignition control module) problem. Also check the ignition coil wire where it goes thru the water pump near top of opti for any arking. Do it were its dark and rev engine for best results.

It is basically just a amplifier. It takes the 5 volt square wave waveform (which is a form of AC) from the PCM, and amplifiers it to about 70 volts to drive the ignition coil. The coil needs this elevated voltage to work. So its sole purpose in life is to amplifier the signal and if it fails there is no high voltage being produced.

When they go bad they can completely die, become intermittent, react to temperature and produce several different symptoms as ignition cut out.
