I am not an "audio" kind of guy, but I am hoping there is a C4 brother/sister out there who is. The rear speakers in my project C4 (I know what you are saying, "What C4 is not a project".) are shot. Everyone tells me I need 6x9 speakers. I have looked at a number of them. Some are 2-way, 3-way, 5-way, etc. What is the difference and does anyone have a suggestion as to what would be best. If it makes a difference, the stock "stereo" was replaced with a Panasonic before I purchased what my wife refers to as the "omnibus budget project".

The difference of the 2-way, 3-way, 4-way and 5-way speakers are the amount of "speakers" (for lack of a better term) that are actually on the speaker.
The big round part that takes up the whole space of the speaker behind the two smaller speakers makes the bass or lows of the music/whatever you are playing. The medium sized speaker makes the mids, and the "tweeter" (really small speaker) makes the highs.
Most speakers that have more than 3-way have "super tweeters" or something to that effect. I've never seen a 4 or 5 way speaker with more than one low-producing cone.
Your best bet is to just got with a 3-way speaker, unless you are an audiophile. I don't know how anyone could be an audiophile in a C4 corvette though.

Post there. They have a very good FAQ to start you off. I did a complete audio installation with home-made front boxes based almost entirely from the stuff I learned there.
The most common answer you will get are put a good set of components in the front (Better sound: these are speakers that play only a specific range of frequences, as opposed to 3-way etc that play all frequencies together), and then either a single sub or pair of smaller subs in the rear.
Many choices, depending on what you want and your budget
I'm pretty sure the higher the sensitivity level the louder it will be with less power. I went with Infinity Refrences in my 89 and they are pretty loud just off my JVC 50x4 max.

The first question is, does your car currently have the Bose system in installed? If so, your rear speaker problem is not the speakers, but the amps. The amps are located w/ the speakers in the Bose system, and go bad over time. You can remove them and send them out for repair, cost is about $75.00 each speaker plus shipping.
