So I got pulled over last night because my headlight was out. It was working when I left work.
I am getting tired of replacing these things. I use the Sylvania Silverstar because I like the white as opposed to the amber light. But it seems that I have to replace them like twice a year. I do have the same problem with the regular replacements as well. Does anyone else have this issue?
Note, I do alot of night driving, but it seems to me a headlight should last longer. I'm wondering if it is the light, or do I have a wiring problem? The connections all look to be in great shape, clean, not brittle, fit tight. The wiring seems to be good from visual inspection.
If it is the lights themselves, what are some alternatives? I don't want to anything like a full blown HID conversion. However, I'm wondering about some of those kits you see on Flea-Bay, where it's a case and just the bulb is replaced.
I put the Silverstars in 3 yrs ago and they are still working fine. Before I retired in Feb. I was driving about 1 hr a night with the lights on, no problem. Aren't they warrantied for a year or two?
Vibration, not voltage is what usually kills auto lights.
I do much night driving, five to seven days a week and went thru the same problem you had with "Silverstars". I now use Hella's H-4's. They've been in for a couple of years now.(same wiring)
