I used a new type three part primer for plastic, 5 coats of color base and 5 coats of clear. A lot of sanding and shot in the garage.

Looks good, I did mine two years ago. It makes the late C4 look much better

Yes, break cleaner & lacquer thinner. It got a lot of it off, but still had a problem with the black rubber being left even after sanding. Primer would cause it to crack and lift. My next door neighbor is a paint person at a GM dealership and he managed to come up with the new 3 step Plastic primer/sealer. The new primer was the key to how the paint came out. It looks like it is 2' deep.
Now we are in the process of putting on a red GS stripe kit. Vette color is Aqua, same as console. I will post some pictures of the GS stripe tomorrow, we only have the hood done now. Real bear to put on.
