Ya never know with these cars, its worth a try. I bought an MSD Blaster and put it in and have not had a problem since.
Well, I changed the computer and checked the coil........ still nothing. So now I'm pulling the car apart again to take another look at the timing chain, cam and crank.

Any advice on how on earth to get the balancer off. I got a puller and spent 2 hours trying to get it off with no luck.

Sounds exactly like what mine did a few months ago. Just shut off while driving....

It wound up being the coil AND the ignition control module.
I put a MSD blaster coil, new ICM, and it fired right up...
Good Luck

Dude, I have all kinds of spark out of the coil. I pulled the wire and turned the car over and got a real good spark and shock. If you still think it's the coil will you please call me at 913 205 7369. I am at my wits end with this thing. I work on it everyday with nothing gained. I could sure use the help.

Only thing I could even think it may be now is the Vatt but I believe you have checked that, what about the fuel filter have you changed that? Check your fuses too, I had one once that was burned up but you couldnt see it or it looked good to me anyway. Damn I was sure it was a coil problem. Have you replaced the ICM? And if you did ,did you put the gel stuff or ky jelly kinda stuff on the back of it? If not try that its only a few bucks. i hate for you to keep throwing money at this thing but and look arounf for bare wires that might be shodting it out on the black. You have fire, you have air and i think i rem you saying you have plenty of fuel pressure so I am all out of ideas, you know you may be checking this stuff and it seems fine but when you out it together it may not be working fine maybe the coil is shirting out ,I was sure it was th coil , damn it....theres a black wire there close to the coil that was kinda bare on mine when I had all the same problems check the wiring out.Now I wont be able to sleep thinking of this car damn it!

Damn , somewhere your losing something, your Fp was ok right. What kind of car is it? Did you check the ICM and when you out it back together after putting on a new coil did you put the gel stuff on the back of the ICM? Is the security light blinking when you have the key in the ignition?

No security light and no I did not put any gel on the back of the ICM. That's kind of new to me, tell me what it is and why I need it please.

I had a misfire/stumble that cost me close to a grand, now I have a lot of new parts
Ended up being the ECM so I was going to say ECM or coil.

Did you do the ECM or PCM?

Looks like you've covered most everything except vats.
Go to a Dealer or good Locksmith, get your key read and then a new one made.
If the pellet on your key is bad and isn't deactivating the VATS system the car will crank but never start and it shuts it down for about 6 minutes. So every time you try and it's unsuccessful that 6 minute time out restarts.

High temp dielectric grease. Helps keep the ICM cool.

You answered yes but did you follow up on the quality of the gas and also make sure it was getting to the rails? Did you get it where you normally get it? Changed your fuel filter lately???? Bad fuel will kill injectors.

Without it, you'll burn up the ICM in short order...

Did you ever check the timing on #1 and go through the firing order just to make sure???? BTW if you are 180 out the timing light will still look ok. Possibly turn the engine over by hand to come up on compression for #1 and make sure the rotor is pointed at #1...

Got a new PCM and I'm well over a grand myself. I don't think it would backfire out of the upper intake if it were the vatts...... do you??

Filled up two days before and the thing ran great right up to the point it just shut down.

Got a fuel pressure gauge and it has 42 lbs and holds. Have not checked the filter due to the great amout of fuel being delivered.
