Nothing wrong with seeing whats out there for the money when you get the car fever but (no offense here) if you dont have the money why waste the guys time and drive his car? Did he know you werent ready to buy yet?
I haven't been trying real hard to sell mine, but I'm just another hour away from Dayton. A guy I work with will be taking a look at it hopefully sometime this week, but if it or your sale fall through you can check mine out. It's a little more, but it is a Vert
I dont think i could spend much more than 6k. Then i dont want a stock 84 or something bc it comes with 205hp my camaros basically got that. Just want one that has a good drive line with some power i can do the rest of the work.

A buddy of mine who lives down the road from me is selling his black '95 LT1 coupe for $5,200. Not sure about the mileage, but it's in average condition. There are definitely some good C4 deals to be had out there now.

I just bought an 86 with similar interior issues for $3500. The body is fine (with no body mods!) but does need paint-no damages though. If the engine mods are worth it to you, seems ok; but I think the price is high for an 84-in 84 your dealing with crossfire ignition instead of TPI. I think you could do better with a newer car for that price.
Kevin, I just looked at your pics, and it seems like you really want this car; but stay away! The problems with this car will be huge, those cracks will not be easy or cheap to fix, and the interior is a total replacement. You are looking at 10 grand to get this car looking nice, and that engine is a stock crossfire (lots of problems). If Ling. has done anything to it, it would be marked on the car somewhere, and I dont see it. As I said in my other post, I just paid 3500 for an 86, which has TPI instead of the crossfire, and engine mods on top of that. My body is way better shape, and even the interior on mine, which needs replacing, looks better than that 84. Also, consider that a car with THAT much work done to it, most likely has work that was done poorly, that you will be the proud owner of. I would offer the guy 2000 to take the mess off his hands and tell him that it will cost 10 grand to get it nice. If he laughs at you, so what, give him your number and tell him if he doesn't get any offers, to call you back. People love young kids to take their POS's off their hands......ask me how I know..........

The motor in the car he is looking at is not a cross fire its at least a 87 with center bolt valve covers and looks to me like its be not well cared for in order to get it to run the ECM and wiring harness must of been change out as well as the intake . He should pass on this car and keep looking
Well wheres a good place to look iv looked on craigslist and auto trader. I would really like one with a 6 speed but wouldnt mind as long as its a stick.

I'm always suspect of Craigslist to be honest. I have never felt like sellers on there (for cars) provide enough information upfront about their cars. I like Autotrader and eBay but I would check out the C4 For Sale section on here. You could even post a Wanted to Buy (WTB) request on there and people who are selling something and are interested could send you a private message or post their offer to you. The people on this forum are knowledgeable about their Corvettes and enthusiastic about them. Like others have said, in this market, its not hard to get a good deal and starting on here is a great idea.
However if you should decide to post a request on here, do be specific. I would be sure to check out the history of the C4 before you make your request. For example, do you want the redesigned interior (1990 and after) or the first interior (1984-1989). Furthermore, do you want the TPI (L98) engines or an LT1? Just as others have said, I wouldn't go with a Cross-Fire- lots of problems and hassles and a constant lack of power (without serious modification).
In my opinion, I'm running an L98 TPI (Tuned Port Injection) and its what I recommend given your budget. Also, since you're in high school you don't have to worry about the OptiSpark when you work on or clean the engine. I think that would be the way to go.
Also, be sure to take your time while you sell your Camaro. Best of luck in your hunt!
Well i would like Lt1 bc of power. But i would like the 6 speed alot!!!!! But if it needs a paint job i dont really care or if the inside needs some work. I got pretty good at painting in my school and it would be pretty cheap to paint it their. I like them and how cool would it be to pull up in high school in a vette lol
kevin
Just make a list of whats most important to you in a Vette and look for that car only. Settling and wishing it was different will only make you hate the car when somethign goes wrong with it, many of us here have done that being in a rush to "get a Vette". If it takes longer to save the money to make sure you get what you want the first time its totally worth it. Know that upholstery isnt super cheap, weatherstrip, things like that.
Ya i know things are alot more exspensive for the corvettes. I what i really want is the c5 but their way over my price limit.
But heres my dream vette
shinny black
nice wheels
tan leather seats
6 speed
engine want LT1 but the L98 would be ok
Would like one with like the ground effects or something but dont see alot with them. I think its called the greenwood effect or something??
But thats just a dream just trying to find a good driver that is reliable right now that runs good.

Kevin, I found my corvette here! On the corvette finders site; I modified the search to cars in my local area, and got lucky that one was close and inexpensive. I was able to drive it home.
Well ill just try and see if anyone wants my car first. I think someone would want it just bc its very very clean inside and out then no rust on the bottom. Plus a hole bunch of parts. I guess we will see what happens. It will be sweet to get one though! I wish my parents would help me like all the other kids at my school lol.
thanks for all your guys help

you are making a smart decision to stay away from that car; I know how it is to want some immediate gratification, but taking a second to make an informed decision is a smart, and shows wisdom beyond your years. See you on the road!
