Default Speaker covers?

just wondering how you get the speaker covers off in the front!

also does the car only arm itself when the inside door locks are manually locked? or, using the key locks on the outside arm it aswell?
this is on a 90 c4, so it doesn't have a remote?responder!
thanks

Ive [pulled the front speaker boxes and know there is a hidden screw ... as for the alarm, mine works when i use the power door locks is when it arms and disarms when I unlock door with key. to test just power lock the doors with window down, reach in unlock door and open and alarm should go off.

Dash speaker covers are secured from below, so you have to pull the dash off.
If you have power locks, those are used to arm the system, if you have manual locks, both door lock sliders must be in locked position, to arm the system.
This is based on my 86 FSM.

ok thanks for that, will search for the screw!

yes before i asked this question, i locked it with the power windows once in the car, then realised the only way to get out was to set off the alarm!, it was dark too so by the time i found the key and key hole, the alarm had reset!
So why is this the only way to arm the alarm! i think using the key should arm it aswell!

probably so when you are in the car driving you manually lock them without setting alarm. My friend told me this is how he arms his 90 as well I tried manually locking the doors and it does not arm the alarm at all. I have never tried it with the key though.

oops i accidently said power windows! i meant power locking!
i'm sure if the key is in ignition and on(engine running) it would not arm the alarm!

oh ok so the 90 up had different locations for the speakers than the earlier c4's
there is a flap covering the speaker, but it wont lift up, don't to wont to force it in case it it breaks

To remove the side front footwell speakers you need to remove the carpeted door sill panel.

Remove the back plastic vertical trim piece that covers the back rear part of the door sill cover. Then I believe one Phillips screw holds the side of it towards the rear, to the door sill of the body.

Then lift up on the carpeted door sill panel. It's glued down to the sill but will come off. The speaker grill comes off with the door sill panel.

As for setting the alarm.

When you open either door and use the Power Door Lock button to lock the doors, look at the Security light on the Dash Cluster. When the door is open, it Blinks on and off. When you lock the doors using the Power Door Lock switch, the Security light stays on solid. This indicates the alarm will set after you close both doors.

If you change your mind and don't want to set the alarm before you close the door, just unlock the doors with the power door lock switch. The Security light will go from solid to blinking.

To disarm the alarm, you insert the door key and turn it from one extreme to the other.

If the alarm goes off, it will reset itself after 3 minutes.

Here's a picture of the carpeted door sill panels that you remove to gain access to the front speaker boxes. In the picture the speaker grills are removed.

If you just need the speaker cover, I believe Mid America just came out with just the speaker cover assy about a month ago, so you don't have to replace the whole sill panel if it's just the speaker cover that needs replacement. I got an e-mail about it about 3 weeks AFTER I had just bought replacement sills from Corvette Recylers
