Electrical Short

'86 Coupe had a elecrical short under the drivers seat and smoked the motor and wires. Now I have a problem with the car not starting. It will start sometimes but, other times it is completely dead no power to anything, then it will start after a period of time, Any suggestsTHANKS!!
