Did all '93s have a fob? I've got a '91 with an aftermarket alarm (and fob) but my dad has a '93 and doesn't have a fob. One of those things I always wondered about....

Just my opinion, the battery in the fob dies on a regular basis. Some batteries last 4 or 5 months, some last a year. I can only find them at Radio Shack, cost about 4 or 5 bucks each. Just buy 6 or 10 and put some in the console with a screwdriver to open the fob and a couple in the house to change when you need to.
I've seen all kinds of threads about how the PKE system doesn't work, and how it's a crap shoot and costs a bunch to figure out what doesn't work. I think most of the time, it's because the battery in the fob has died. At least, that's been my experience. If the PKE light comes on when you start the car, the system is ok. Then, if nothing works, I'd change the battery in the fob. Then, I'd do what the owner's manual says and cycle the system thru the 1 door or 2 door part.
The C4 PKE system was the first passive that was available. They have issues even when working properly. The fob goes into sleep mode to save the units battery, sometimes you have to bump the fob hard into your hand to awaken it. Mine works, most of the time I have it turned off.
