Yup. Don't know if the dealer still caries them but you can find them used.

I went through the same thing with my 93. They are readily available on bay for $135 or you can try your luck for a used/individual owned one for between $100 and what ever. Or you can be a dumbass and get one from the stealership like I did. I thought since I paid a premium for the fob ($195 w/tax) they would program it for me. Instead they were going to tag me for another $50 and lied about having to put it on a machine (tuner/scanner) in order to accomplish the program. That's when a came to my senses and told them to f**k off. It took me 10 minutes to program the fob which includes reading the instructions. A new fob should come with instructions but if it doesn't you can find them here.

There are two types of fob, coupe (2 buttons) and vert (1 button). Be sure to get the right one. Instructions for "programming" it are in your owners manual. You might want to see if you can borrow one from soneone and program it to make sure your PKE stuff is functioning OK in the car before you buy the fob.

There are plenty on eBay right now for $135

If working properly the fob will lock the doors automatically when you walk away. You don't push the button. And likewise it will unlock the doors when you walk up to the car. With in about 5-15' or so. I haven't quite figured out what the button is for yet but like someone posted read the owners manual. The hatch button works to release the hatch. The problem with the fob and one of the reasons some people don't use them is that if you are working around the car and you have your keys the car will unlock/lock everytime you get within range.

Just get onto ebay and search auto parts/"corvette key fob". They have them all the time.

The fob can be set up to automatically lock and unlock both drivers and passenger door or just the drivers door, or neither.

With the fob in drivers only mode, the door button can be used to unlock the passenger door and the hatch button works in any mode I believe.

You have to ask yourself why the fob is missing in the first place. Did the previous owner want to keep a souvenier or did the system stop working?

The relay or module for the PKE has a habit of not working or only working when it feels like it.

If you have the door open and key in the ignition and you hear "ding-ding-ding" then your relay is fine, if no dings then the relay is faulty.

The relay/module(I don't what it's actually called) is behind the DIC and the antenna is located at the rear of the car.

If you don't have dinging, it will be useless to buy a fob that you won't be able to program.

For both my cars, I was able to get it to ding by hitting the top of the dash(as Gordon Killebrew said to do) and program my '95 again with a new fob. What I didn't know was that my '93 also worked with the same fob and I never programmed any for my '93(I was missing my fob as well for my '93).

hmm,, mine has never dinged. but Mr Mojo may be correct if the system is suppose to ding and it doesn't it's probably an indicator there could be a problem and I probably just got lucky.

I dunno since mine doesn't work. But if it's like most cars it shouldn't matter. Try it, what is yours doing?

that will be more trouble then the car is worth. you would have to remove all the factroy stuff and start over. I have both remotes for my 94 but I rarely use them. my system works like it should, but I just dont use it. when I bought my car it did not come with any remotes. I just bought a used one and got lucky.

No it won't. You can get a Viper remote door lock kit from Best Buy for about 140 bucks and it included basic install. It won't affect the VATS system and is more relaible than the PKE system.

Gold Cylon and I both have aftermarket remote lock systems and love them.

My system flashes the parking lights for lock and unlock and I have a separate channel devoted to the hatch release (1995 LT1 Coupe).
