My neighbor has had a Swiss exchange student staying with her for about 6 mos. In October he bought an Dodge Daytona that is pretty close to the same color as my Corvette. We were each out washing our cars shortly thereafter and he came over to admire my Corvette, we talked about liters, PS, etc and I told him I would take him for a ride one day. Yesterday was the day.
It was pretty nice here on the sunny front range of Colorado so I puit the top down and asked him if he wanted to go for a ride. We went up into the hills a bit, and, as I usually do when someone is in my car for the first time, I was driving pretty agressively. He loved the ride and talked about how well it held the road and how fast it accelerated. We got to a cool overlook and he wanted to take some pictures. He took a few of the car empty and then I asked him if he wanted some pix with him in it. He got in the driver's seat and I took a few pix. I then asked him if he wanted to drive home. He said he did, but that he wouldn't drive as fast as I did. I said I thought that was a good idea.
We got about 1/2 mile down the road and he was doing around 60 in a 40, grinning, and said "well, maybe I will." I laughed with him as he drove plenty fast for a guy driving a Corvette that is not his on mountain roads for the first time. He didn't have any inhibitions about driving it like it was meant to be driven. We got back into town and at the first light we stop at a red Mustang GT with a Shelby stripe pulls up next to us. As we had been talking about how much faster a 13 year-old Corvette is than a Mustang he blips the throttle to get the GT driver's attention and the next thing I know we are drag racing. The race didn't last long, and fortunately there was no traffic and even fewer cops, but he was grinning ear to ear. We got home he took a few more pix and I went in to have a beer and be thankful I still had a Corvette. I am sure that will be a great story by the time he gets back to Switzerland in two weeks. What a great time, and a great opportunity to make someone else happy. Just thought I'd share.
I had a kid at work who thought Corvettes were overrated, etc. so I took him for a little ride. He was impressed to say the least :D People just don't know how sweet these cars are till they're in one

We should let all our Ambassadors take Vettes overseas with them to help out the USA's foreigh relations. We would have a lot more friends than the current and past diplomacy has recruited. :seeya
