Default another ltx overheating......

hey guys this is another overheating question but in a little different platform. my friend as a 95 formula and i convinced him to trade it for an 89 L98. well since he decided to and the trade was all planned out his car decided to climb to 260 on initial start up then drop to norm temp ( 210 ) but continues to bounce around between the 2. we got a new rad. cap but on initial strat up it does the same but run closed to normal. any ideas?

Hmm new radiator? Could be air trapped in the system or a bad sending unit. My monies on air in the system. You will need to bleed the system and then top it off.

If you mean an LT1 is overheating you have to bleed the air out both cold and at op temp with the t/stat open. Bleeder is on the t/stat housing.
