My headliner has been droopy for a good long time. So the wife says get some fabric and a can of spray adhesive from the local fabric store and we can fix it. Easy enough to get it out, just pull it out. The padding comes right out, no tools. We clean off the old mess and use the spray adhesive to put on the new fabric, everything looks great.
BUT, The fabric fell off in just a few hours. Has anybody done this? And what did you use to glue it on?
Is there an industrial spray on adhesive I can get? I see Mid-America sells a spray can, but now I am leery of spending $20.00 and getting the same results.
I drive the Vette to work this morning with no headliner and now the cruise does not work, I had no idea they were connected?

The adhesive you need for the job (headliner) is 3M Adhesive spray. I used about a 1/4 of a can on my headliner using the existing fabric.
^^Yeah the Headliner and the Cruise are both connected via the Knutson Valve....if you are low on Headlight fluid, they both suffer greatly.....
and that 3M stuff....that stuff is like....well just make sure you spray it in an area where you can lay down some disposable plastic...like what you get at Lowes for painting and then wear rubber gloves....it doesn't come off anything.
My wife got some of the other from Micheals and it is not nearly the animal the 3M stuff is.
I used to use the 3M on pool table felt you spray it and stick it......it is done.
I used the 3M stuff that I picked up in Lowe's. I went to a fabric store and they actually had material for headliners. I got a piece of leatherlike stuff that had a backing on it. Went outside with the top and sprayed about a 1/4 can on and let it sit a few minutes before I put the fabric down. I rolled it on with a wall paper seem roller and let it sit for 2 days before I trimmed the edges. It covered some of the imperfections in the padding on the roof and it looks great too. No more hanging headliner!
