I was thinking how easy it would be to drop a easy grand into my Vett's wish list today. On just general things nothing out of the normal a hundered here a hundred there before you know it's real money. Who else could do the same, not that we will or could
It never works to have a planned limit, but......
I figure with 4k mine should be close to how I want it. yucky, talk about bad investment. LOL old c4 + mods that can't be recouped. it's just part of the hobby I guess.
Carpet, sound deadening, weatherstripping, new mats, new seat covers, refinish the sawblades....That's not even touching the engine, drivetrain and suspension.
1k my white azz
It's definately a hobbie, 'cause I sure as hell know I'll never see a return on any C4 spends. On the flip-side, she's bought and paid for
Exhaust system...........$1000.
Replace seals (rear main, trans. input)..........another grand or more.
Seats...........carpet and heat barrier.............new soft top................refinish wheels............what else?
I just try to do one big thing a year. This year I replaced all the hubs and U-joints. With the annual inspection, I've blown this year's $1000 budget. Now, I'm cruising and having fun, and thinking about what I want to put on my fix/restore list for next year.
My/our cars are always going to be "a work in progress". Just ask Jay Leno.

PS--My car never smarts off and always does what I ask. A lot less trouble and money than a wife. This car's a keeper.

A while ago you posted about how when you buy someting extra for your car, its an investment in yourself. The joy and happiness it brings.
I agree 100 %. Nothing like new parts to get you moving and busy. Kind a like a theraputic moment for me.
I even watch the tracking for delivery when I buy something new.

Yes I did and it is true in my case. To be able to say I did that is important to me. I just finished a RR install last week and it felt really good to know I could still do that after not turning a wrench on the guts of a motor for over 35 years or so. 1000.00 is chump change on these cars but the self satisfaction of doing it yourself is priceless.
I could drop $5K into mine and still need paint I thought seriously thought about updating a while back. I came to the realization that after all of the work and $$$$$, I would still have an '85 Vette......A very nice one, but still an '85.
