Early LT1s used a 2-sided belt.

I don't care if it was a 1500.00-2500.00 junker...its still a waste in my book. This program failed in Germany if I heard correctly. It did not stimulate the sales of German vehicles...mainly ASIAN ONES.

And I heard also that the steel being crunched is going straight to China.... WTF ?????

So you are upset that we are sending money to Asia by purchasing their cars.

And you are upset that Asia is sending money to us, by purchasing scrap metal?

Hrmm..

So, now you guys are saying a C4 is worth only $2500? Damn, it looks like it is cheaper to get a C4 than a third gen Trans Am or Camaro.

I love it. Sells his Vette but can't avoid belittling those of us that still own them. I am hardly a waxer and the video still made me ill.

The same car could be had for $2500 all day, and even then it's a bad deal. To get $4500 from the dealer is great, and I hope the owner enjoys his new Honda or Toyota that will get better fuel economy, better acceleration, and be more dependable than the '86 vette was.

You guys need to get off the soap box. Really. The owner made a good economical decision. It's just a crappy 80s car. If it was worth more, the owner would have sold it to one of you vette worshiping waxers.

An older C4, in that condition? yes.. The car looked like crap.

You can pick up a LT1 car for under $5k, go faster, not have the lame dash/doorpanels/breadbox, better rims/brakes/suspension.

I've learned from my mistake.

Vette owners seem to have this ignorant love towards the car, and they see past all the mistakes, defects, and issues with these cars.

I still like corvettes, I just made a huge mistake by owning a C4. I should have done my homework. Everything I found on my own was documented by others, just didn't do the research. My bad.

But I'm not going to stand around now and go "no, the car wasnt really a turd".. C4 is a dud. End of story. Seeing one go to the crusher makes me feel relief, because some poor kid won't buy it and spend 10k on it trying to make it enjoyable.

Seeing as you're apparently just bitter at your own wasting of money, it's awfully bold of you to assume that nobody else derives any enjoyment from keeping their C4 as a hobby. Hobbies, by nature, consume money -- the point isn't to come out ahead, financially. Clearly, you were expecting your C4 to be something it never could be, so it was a good thing for you to sell it. But the air you carry in your posts is one of superiority because you had the "sense" to sell your C4, while the rest of us plod along in misery with cars we hate. Sorry buddy, but that's just not true, and it's not a fair assessment of most of us here.

It's heartwrenching......It's like watching a predator rape a baby and not being able to help prevent it because the government declared it legal.

Well, yep, I am upset that a corvette got crunched. The asian and germany thing...just stating what I had heard. Wondering if anyone else heard the samething. Should I be upset that we are buying a ton of asian products and sending them steel to make more "stuff"....
why heavens no...IT THE AMERICAN WAY.

I am sure I'll have a bunch of foreign bosses in my future....I'll love working for them for pennies on the dollar and going home to my box by a polluted river or stream. Ah....YEAH BABY! GLOBAL ECONOMY FOR ME YESSIR!!!

What a dummy that person is. Just sell the car as is, it looked like it was in good condition, at least for parts. Ignorance.

Maybe some of us did our due diligence a little better. I am on my second C4 and both were absolutely reliable and cost me little. If you buy junk it does not matter who built it.

A few C4s getting crushed will do nothing but increase the value of the C4s in the long run

the point we are missing is that when we were 16 we could go out and get an old car as our 1st set of wheels for next to nothing.now with every car that gets destroyed the price of what is left goes up so your kids will have to pay 2 times as much for a car that is half as good on the local used car lot
