I don't care if it was a 1500.00-2500.00 junker...its still a waste in my book. This program failed in Germany if I heard correctly. It did not stimulate the sales of German vehicles...mainly ASIAN ONES.
And I heard also that the steel being crunched is going straight to China.... WTF ?????

And you are upset that Asia is sending money to us, by purchasing scrap metal?

I love it. Sells his Vette but can't avoid belittling those of us that still own them. I am hardly a waxer and the video still made me ill.
It looked like a turd, kind of like the majority of C4's we see on blocks in peoples back yards and on craigslist.
The same car could be had for $2500 all day, and even then it's a bad deal. To get $4500 from the dealer is great, and I hope the owner enjoys his new Honda or Toyota that will get better fuel economy, better acceleration, and be more dependable than the '86 vette was.
You guys need to get off the soap box. Really. The owner made a good economical decision. It's just a crappy 80s car. If it was worth more, the owner would have sold it to one of you vette worshiping waxers.

You can pick up a LT1 car for under $5k, go faster, not have the lame dash/doorpanels/breadbox, better rims/brakes/suspension.

Vette owners seem to have this ignorant love towards the car, and they see past all the mistakes, defects, and issues with these cars.
I still like corvettes, I just made a huge mistake by owning a C4. I should have done my homework. Everything I found on my own was documented by others, just didn't do the research. My bad.
But I'm not going to stand around now and go "no, the car wasnt really a turd".. C4 is a dud. End of story. Seeing one go to the crusher makes me feel relief, because some poor kid won't buy it and spend 10k on it trying to make it enjoyable.

Maybe some of us did our due diligence a little better. I am on my second C4 and both were absolutely reliable and cost me little. If you buy junk it does not matter who built it.

the point we are missing is that when we were 16 we could go out and get an old car as our 1st set of wheels for next to nothing.now with every car that gets destroyed the price of what is left goes up so your kids will have to pay 2 times as much for a car that is half as good on the local used car lot
