Default Wiper blades

I went to Auto Zone today I purchased some wiper blades for my 84 of course they were too high and hit my hood. I felt that they were too high when I purchased them but the salesman insisted. They didn't have the Tricos. I'm sure the dealer doesn't carry these anymore and if they do they want $. Has anybody found them recently or do I have to find them at Carlisle? Most of the new blades are all the same multi use style.

I ran into the same problem with my 96. I ended up getting replacements at the Chevy dealer.

Phone around, someone near you has to have Trico "Exact Fit", or is that the only parts place in your area.

I just modify mine. I got a pair of http://www.silblade.com/ flexblades for mine at Advance Auto. I just took the snap hardware from the old blades and used them in the new flexblades and it fits like a charm. They are by far the best blades I've ever used. They are now on all three of my cars.

Anco Aero Advantage or Trico Exact Fit. Both made to clear C4 and Caddy XLR hoods, too.

I just went through this, and I did not like how the Trico blades cleared the hood. I ended up getting factory wipers from Ecklers.

I took the 1991 to the local non-chain auto parts store and told the nice man behind the counter I needed new blades in the car. He went out, took the old ones off, installed the correct replacements, and put them on my car for no extra charge. Very easy for me and I know I got the correct ones that fit.

That is what I did also. I got some teflon coated blades that work great. They are also on my van and GF's Sebring.

I used to shop around and sometimes I'd end up with collisions..now I just call the local Chevy dealer and order the wiper blades from them....

Trust me, when driving in the Lousiana Mississippi border area one does not want crappy wiper blades or slick tires.

These are the blades that I had to buy for my 96. I bought them at Pep Boys or AutoZone. If you go to the dealer they will charge you $$$$$$

Thanks, guys. The Auto Zone I went to didn't have the Tricos. They just look up the car on the computer and say it takes 20 in. blades. Unfortunately all their 20 in. blades are the universal fit blades that fit 100 other cars, none with a hood like ours. Also where they did carry Tricos they are replaced by Bosch's and others. After having problems with not being able to find other parts I figured I'd take a shortcut this time.

That was the same issue with Auto Zone for me. Got tired of looking around so I got them at the Chevy dealer. I was in a hurry and did not have time to shop around. At Auto Zone, I tried 3 different types and they all would not clear the hood. I'll try NAPA next time. I would like to get the Bosh wipers, as I have those on my truck and they are the best I've ever used.

Advance Auto Parts have the Trico Exact fit at the cheapest price. If you want to pay more, you can get the same thing at Napa.

The dealer said they have AC Delco for like $15 a piece. Then they said they had OEM Anco or Trico for $30 a piece. I laughed and told them I can get the same thing, Trico, at Advance for around $8 a piece.

I was out today checking on blades. Pep Boys and Auto Zone do not sell Tricos anymore. I did forget to look at the Anco Aero Advantage (my mind is not what it once was). I then called a dealer who doesn't sell the GM blades but a after market one for about $8. As I was dropping off show flyers at Stoudt Corvettes I checked there - GM blades for around $10. I'm going to check NAPA and Advance Auto out for my own info.

What brand are the GM blades? AC Delco? If you got a pic, that would be great.

If you go aftermarket, I would check out the Trico Exact Fit. Those are the lowest wiper blades I have seen. I know there are some that just have a piece of rubber for the blades, but the plastic piece that snaps onto the wiper arm is really big. And I've heard of some getting those type of wiper blades, and the blades clear the hood, but the large center plastic piece would hit.
