96 is currently experiencing a situation where in traffic and stopped it feels like somebody bumps you from behind. The tach shows rpm's up to about 2500 and the car stubbling badlyl. Keep foot on brake and go pedal at the same time to keep it running. Rotten egg smell and temp up to 230 degrees. Dealers says it is not really that high with the scope on it. I cannot get it to do it at the dealer. Fuel filter has been changed and fuel inj. cleaned. One dealer said too high ethanol, drained tank & refilled Ok for a while. While in the NC mts. it acted up again and the dealer there chanaged the crankcase positon sensor. Once the car is on the open highway and away from traffic it clears up and runs like a rapped ape. This is the LT-1 engine. Not a simple car to fix like my 1972.
Thanks for the info but I have a new Corsa exhaust system on the car. I just ran it for 1 1/2 hrs. in fairly traffic going into N. Myrtle Beach and could not get it mess up. One dealer told me it was a computer part for $500 but they never ordered it so I never went back to them. I went back the other day to see what part it was and both the service advisor and mechanic no longer work there. It has a hypertech chip in it but the mechanic at the garage where the car is being checked said that it should not be the problem.
