Its always something as they say. Well I lost all of my R-12. Dye test or pressure test on Monday. I will be using R-12 again. Hope the leak is coming from a very simple place. As for R-12, my good friend will be giving me about 22lbs of it (he has left out of the 30lbs tank), will sell the rest, to whom, who knows.
Look at the plastic nut on the aluminum tube that goes into the evaporator, it is probably cracked and that is where your leak is. It was on my 87. The replacement hose is expensive, so I machined a split nut to replace the plastic nut and I don't have a leak anymore. You need a split nut because the aluminum pipe has a flare.
I have had a problem with my A/C also, My vette is a C4 1987, I was in Scottsdale this last July, and when there I had it charged, It was HOT, 115 deg. When I returned home to Tulsa,Ok. It was not very cold. I had found a place on the net that I called to talk about the problem.
