Interior light problem

Interior light problem
I recently bought my first, an '85 with 62,000 original miles. It sat out in the elements for a few years, but is coming back nicely. The interior lights stay on (forever) after turning the key off and getting out and shutting the door. If I reach in through the open window and turn the key to the on position and back to the off psoition, the interior lights will go out, but come back on after about 2-3 minutes and stay on.
So far I have:
Made sure the light switch is turned to the right (making sure it is not turning the interior lights on)
Removed the door switches (still has the problem)
Turned map lights on and off (no help)
Could it be courtsey light delay timer... where is this located?
I would very much appreciate any help. Obviously, this is draining my battery.
