I have a 91 as well and has the same issue. I have read the DERM module may need to be replaced. I don't know the first thing about replacing it. I have also read that is could need to be reset. Confused, so if anyone has info on this, it would be greatly appreciated!

This is a common problem with 1990's. The mounting point for the sensors on the frame rail corrode causing a poor ground and the light to trip. There are left and right sensors which could cause this problem. Left (Code 16) right( Code 26).
In addition to this there are a number of other problems each with a code .
To get the codes you have to connect terminal A to K on the ALDL computer connection.
The airbag light will flash a series on long and short pulses indicating the specific Code and problem that tripped the light.
Without the Code to point you in the direction of the fault it's just a guessing game.
