I dont wanna sound like a dick or anything, but i'm pretty sure its against copyright to post an entire FSM online. I bet if you look hard enough you will find one, but it probably won't be legal.

You'ld think in these times GM would authorize someone to produce past and vintage FSMs in secure PDF format. Could bring in a new source of revenue. I'd buy one just to have a full searchable soft copy.

thats pretty much the route i was thinking of going. something like an authorized download rather than something copyright infringed. perhaps i'll just stick to buying a hard copy of the fsm. easier to use anyways, especially when out in the garage busting knuckles.

I would love to have one for my 91 to print various pages when the refer to a drawing ten pages previous so you can read and fllow the diagram at the same time. I have found a lot of times the FSM refering to different pages when explaing something.. Also if out in the shop can print what you need and if gets trashed somehow no big deal it is not gone forever..

agreed. i was able to obtain full fsm's for my RX-7's online and the full parts manuals in pdf, which are a huge help when ordering parts from the dealership. i also have the hard copies of the fsm's but as you said, its sure nice to print off what you want and take then to the shop.

As it is with my hard copy, I just make copies of ALL of the pages involved in a process, highlight the meat on each page and carry that out to the shop when doing a project. That saves my book...kinda. It's still getting worn just from referencing it.

You could try contacting Helm www.helminc.com and ask them if they have CD's of the service manuals. Could be that the CD is in a secure format where you could not copy the file from the CD to another drive, but it would still let you print the pages that you need.

GM has a contract with Helm to print all of the various FSM's for their vehicles. For the older cars, most of the accessory catalogs have photocopies of FSM's and assembly manuals and those are re-printed through a license agreement with GM. GM is smart enough to know that there is a market for restoration of their cars and they are not going to give all of that technical data away or allow anyone to print stuff for resale without getting their share.

Most auto repair shops have access to online manuals published by Chilton, Motor's or others for just about any car. That's pricey to get that service, but that beats having a hundred repair manuals sitting on shelves.

The hard copy C4 books are easy to find for not a lot of money. FWIW, somebody posted a link to a file that had the full parts book for C4's. Not sure what the thread title was, but do a search on parts manual or some similar terms. Also search on the C4 Tech section as it may have been posted there. IIRC, the .pdf file was HUGE maybe 200MB

I forget the thread that had that but did score a copy and has made life very easy for me and the Chevy dealer. I call with a part number and application he checks application to be correct and does a quick inventory search..

You know how DVD's are supposed to be non copy-able?

There's ways around it

I would buy one, rip it to my hard drive and sell it.

maybe make some copies of the CD and resell it on ebay or here. LOL JK.

I don't want to go to prison. Not until I can't afford to eat or have a place to live. Then they can take me.

Probably correct. I believe he was suspended as an eBay seller shortly after.

Is this to say that your RX-7 requires that much maintenance?
