Some of you might feel safe in a car that has a crush zone the same depth as the flip-up headlights on a C4, but not me bro! I'm pretty sure an airbag isn't going to stop a Suburban! Those little things might be just fine in Tokyo or Hong Kong where the average speed is about 27mph, but I'm scared to go to Houston or Dallas in anything smaller than a full size Pickup. The Smart car looks like an air conditioned golf cart to me.

I can't believe people really drive cars that small. When I park next to one and see how much smaller it is in comparison to mine, I just shake my head. Some of these cars are as big/small as the the cargo area in my Durango.

That is exactly what I was trying to say when that jacka$$ called me a fat a$$hole. Funny, being fat doesnt make your shoulders wider---LOL Moron. I can see if you live in a place like-----ummm----maybe Key West, and never leave, that might be a good option to run around town, but to take something like that on the highway is nuts. I was riding beside one doing nearly 70mph and he was beside a tractor trailer. I swear that thing wasnt much bigger than one tire on that truck. Insane!! And after watching a new Hemi Chrysler Aspen disintigrate at 70mph when he was just bumped by a smaller car, after flipping about 5 times, NO THANKS. Trust me this guys family would be all dead in that accident, and the driver survived in that Chrysler, although I am not sure how.

I support any American's right to drive what they want - I just don't understand why anybody would WANT to drive an Obamamobile. If you are willing to risk driving something small, I think I'd actually feel safer on a motorcycle. More maneuverable, just as easy on gas, and more fun.

I love my vette but then again I am a different type of driver and don't contend or expect that everyone should drive like me or like the same cars as me. So please feel free to drive up next to my wife and rev your motors and burn some gas, because she will not care. She will drive off the line happy in what she drives and finds it a bonus that she saves money also. BTW, the insurance on the brand new Smart is cheaper than on my 92 ford ranger. So she is smiling all the way to the bank.
Dude, that was really uncalled for-you are a$$hole for demeaning this conversation to name calling. Remeber where you are, this is a forum for people who drive big gas guzzling V8 sports cars; if you dont EXPECT that we will trash electric cars and hybrids; especially that rediculous looking Smartcar that really looks like a toy, then you are a double a$$hole (and if you cant admit that it looks like a toy then you on top of being a a$$hole, you've got your head up it).

Like someone else mentioned, people driving these things are smug holyer than thou type people. I suspect that hit a nerve with him. Calling me names and another person that isnt even on this forum names is absolutely uncalled for, and shows how smug he actually is.

Oh well I am over it now. I was pretty pi$$ed when I first read it, but who cares now. Maybe he will ask for help on his car someday and people will remember how he acted here and wont help. Maybe, Maybe not.

I don't see where I called anybody any names - or were you aiming my quote at someone else?

Awww...cumon ladies, play nice.
Anyways, a buddy and I were riding on I-93N in New Hampshire last month, we flew past a smart car in the fast lane on our Harley's. Both of us at 75 mph had enuff wind shear that I swear that little car almost went up on it's two left wheels. Plus, I think we'd scared the bejesus out of the driver.

Default Smart Tipping!

Saw something hilarious last night, just can't find the link to it now.
The Dutch police are having a problem with "Smart Tipping"! Just like cow tipping over here, except roaming gangs of drunks are flipping those Little Smart-cars into the canals.
"I swear I parked it right here officer, right above this oil slick!"

Another thing that pisses me off is the surcharge that we get hit with for people like this. I drive a truck I may have to pay an insurance surcharge because I may kill some one in an econobox. Newsflash, hit the fool who chooses to drive the econobox, they are the ones who are either going to be maimed or killed, not me or my family. Fortunately my insurer hasn't hit me with one but I have heard of other companies doing this.

To each his own, but I hope that I never run into one of those "smart" cars. A minimal impact in one of those things can cause severe, or worse injury to the occupants. Screw what kind of safety ratings this thing states to the public, just take a close look at one and if you are "smart" you will pass on it. The US government must have been looking the other way when this car was allowed to be sold here. After a short period, accident statistics on these cars will be published and then most will understand just how unsafe they really are.

Default Prius

Come to the Green Hippie capital out here in California and every other car is a Prius.

I'll be in my Vette doing 80 mph in the fast lane and some eco-safe soccer mom is doing 82 mph and riding me like crazy in her Prius. People drive 80+ mph all day long in a Prius out here in CA. Sounds like people in other states who own a Prius are just *****'s.

I get passed all the time by Prius's when I'm in my Vette or V6 daily driver. Ain't no thang because if I touch the accelorator, the Prius will be long gone. I just let them pass me with a smile on my face.

I was driving home from work in my Yukon and pulled up next to a Smart car. I cannot even imagine what would happen if that thing pulled out in front of me and I hit it. There is no way I would EVER let anybody I cared about drive one of those things.

Hmmm. Just bought my wife a Smart Car and it is a blast to drive. I can not help if two fat a$$holes can not fit in it at the same time. She is a rather petite lady and wanted a smaller car and being that it is saving me $100 a month gas over her Ford Ranger that was falling apart, makes my wallet very happy. Of course I do not help matters because I do 80 in it down the interstate. Would I trade in my vette for one? Heck no! I bet the truth is closer to: " I am a fat bastard and I don't fit in the Smart car and that chaps me because I think it is soooooooo cool! My wife is not petite, in fact she's a blimp like me - I just say that because it makes me mad when everyone pokes fun at this little toilet of a car I bought for her (it's all i could afford)."

You may be right. I will admit I was wrong in my statement but at least I didn't call anyone's family a name. I showed poor judgment in my statement, but bringing my wife into to bash her, shows even poorer judgment. My intent was lost in my very poor choice of words, so I resign from this argument as lost because of being very stupid. I apologize to anyone that I may have hurt with my statement.

I was a little angry because I had been on another forum and corrected them in trying to bash us gas guzzlers, I do mean us, I actually own a Tundra, Vette, Conversion Van and then smart car. The thought being that no one here would bash another group because of their choice in cars, but I was wrong when I saw the bashing of prius owners and then smart car owners. But that is no excuse and again apologize to everyone on the forum.
