performance chip
That chip is crap. Get a custom tune if you want performance.
Anybody got some tissue? I just sprayed snot all over that generic chip.
Idle control (something we LT5 drivers have to deal with on a stock (90-91) chip.
)Cooling fan control. Mine (both) come on at about 210 and shut off at about 205
CAGS is a thing of the past.
Timing curve is modified and there is more advance - mandating premium fuel too, but well worth it!
WOT fuel to air mix is held very close to optimum across the entire RPM range.
Anti-backfire for header use
Beyond LT1/4 stuff, mine also is set to run w/o secondary throttle plates (again an LT5 thing) and operate all 16 injectors at the same time.
It runs soooooo much better than it did with the stock chip. Course it cost me a bit more than $25 (more like 17x more), but the point is, you want to have some specific ideas on what you want from a chip. Someone promoting simply "more HP" with a 'one size fits all' chip is full of it! And, FWIW, the LT4 has an E-prom in it. So, it will accept a "flash" tune w/o requiring you to touch the ECM.
P.
The chip is not removeable on 94 and up vettes. So for your LT4 the computer has to be reprogrammed.
That aside, there is small gains to be made on a stock motor. Usually, it involves changing the factory t-stat (180 degrees on LT series motors) to a 160 degree t-stat. Basically, you lean out the mixture a little and advance timing a little along with lowering the operating tempature of the car, via the t-stat and the fan on settings in the program.
The factory built a very safe tune into the car for both emissions and life of the motor. For performance there is a little room for improvement.
If you are serious about doing it, check with a reputable company such as pcmforless.

Remember the stock tune has to accomodate all drivers; your parents going to the club on Sunday and you who wants to thrash it a bit. Has to be the best of both worlds.
