Default 86 Gone...:-(

I finally dropped off my car at the paint shop last week on the 29th of September. She might not be ready until about Christmas time. He is finishing up on a couple of 60' Porcshes and will begin removing some trim and stuff off the car. It will be a tough 2 to 3 months without my baby. I will live vicariously through my CF bretheren.

How much are you paying for the paint job that it's taking 3 months to paint? How's that in relation to the car's net worth?

Cool, on getting it painted. To me getting a new paint job on one of my cars is better than christmas.

What color? Why dont you take your camara when you go visit your car and post up the progress.

I feel your pain! Mine's at the paint shop too - I've been without for about 3 weeks now and probably another 4 to go...

But it will be well worth the wait!! I am having withdrawls though for sure.

He is charging me about $3,800/3,900 for the paint job. He is finishing up on a couple of late 60s Porsches so he can't do a lot of work on mine right away. He is a one man with a couple of employessand we have known him for about 20 years. He has painted my brothers 84 Z28, my dad's Santa Fe, my sister's Civic and Land Cruiser and does good work. I told him to take his time as well. He might get it done before Christmas.

It will be painted the same Dark Red Metallic. Good idea, I will try to get over there and take in progress pics. Right now I have the motor part of the passenger headlight sitting on my bench at home. I had to replace the large plastic gear on it and I need to get over there to install it on the headlight frame.

Just got mine back last week, after 3.5 months of delays. I had every body part that could come off it hanging in my garage last week. Putting it back together now and it goes quickly... Relocate battery and install Doorlocks last night, New insulation matting tonight. Finish off the quad lights tomorrow. Gonna take a while to wire in the new lights and mirrors to the old controls. It a blast to see the progress, and even better to be rid of the old color.

December will be a sweet reunion for you...

Thanks. Your car looks great. What headlight kit did you use for your mod?

Its from Corvetteswestonline.com .

They have a different style lens cover, which I will be painting to match the car, (except the openings)of course.

I dont like the way they use an exposed screw through the top to fasten, so I think I will epoxy in nuts to the bottoms and bolt them down through the light buckets. I think if I locate the epoxied nuts under the paint lines on the lens, it should be a clean installation.

Thanks. I agree abiout the exposed screw and blending it in so it does not show, that way it does not look like an add on with exposed screws like some of the body kits you see on imports.

2-3 months, that's nothing. Think about us poor northerners that have to live without them for 6 months every year
