You can do it yourself, most bars attach to the seatbelt mount on the B pillar, you'll need a big Torx bit to get the seat belt off. I think it's 45 or 50..
Most bars will cost you between $250-$500 depending on the brand and whatever specials are going on.
I have an Exotic Muscle bar but I don't recommend it if you plan on taking your top a lot. It cost me $330. The reason being my camera mount bolts hit the top when you store it.
R-D Racing here on the forum runs specials all the time, that one is easier to install.
Arizona Speed and Marine and Terry Farber both have similar bars with the hoops in it.
Brey Krause is the best looking and most expensive one out there, I don't have a pic of it, but it is sweet.
I have a Arizona Speed & Marine Bar in my car. And thanks to Frank and REDGAR, I now have the IO Port camera mount to get some real good racing shots.
But I would choose the Terry Farber bar over the AS&M Bar. Terry's bar doesn't mount to the top like my bar does.
Like Frank said, the bars mout very easy to the regular seatbelt points. You can install the bar in 1.5 hours, tops, if your taking your time!
I use the R-D Cross Bar, comes with the camera mount. I was able to install it myself in less than an hour and I use it road racing. The video is stable and no problems thus far. Make sure your video camera has the stabilization feature and I think you'll be fine. I'd check with R-D as I heard that some guys were able to buy blemished cross bars for a very reasonable price, I paid the Forum member's price for a new one.
R-D Racing crossbar.... Dave has an excellent design @ and excellent price that really stiffens up the car, holds your camera, mounts harnesses to easily and allows your top to be stored.
Do these bars affect the class you AutoX in with NCCC? I"m been thinking about this myself just to get some great camera shots and to stiffen the car up a little but I'm not sure if this will bump me out of Stock (1GS or 1SG) NCCC class.

Harness bars don't bump me out of my SCCA stock class. I'm not sure how the NCCC views them.
Click on my sig pic, the page has a pic of the R-D Cross Bar installed. It doesn't have the camera mount on it at the moment... but the whole system works great!
