Default installing beam plates?

anyone whos installed beam plates on their car, how hard was it? could i take one bolt out and slide the plate on top, then take the other bolt out and do them one at a time so that i dont have to try and realign it all? im just afraid that if i take the bolts out, that i wont be able to get them back in. any info? thanks

You need a floor jack under trans so you can take the weight off the front bolts otherwise they won't come out.

Unless the holes in the beam are flogged out you will find the bolts will only go in (real easy) when the beam is in the correct alignment.
When I put the beam back in I do the rears first , then do the fronts with a floor jack under the trans.A fraction of a inch up or down make the difference between slide in and no go.
You will appreciate the plates next time you have to take the beam out

Putting a bottle jack under the trans and jockeying it around a bit, and the bolts will go right in. No worries there: been there, done that quite a few times now. And, I'll say that if nothing else, the plates make all the difference in the world when it comes to removing and reinstalling the beam! Bill B's plates are worth every penny, in that regard, to say nothing about increasing stability at WOT.

Just be sure to adjust the position of the tail/beam plate before torquing it in place. Otherwise, you'll be getting some "buzzing" from the drive line that will be annoying, not to mention tough on U joints.

You have ± about 1/4" from the dimensions (below) to play with. (I got my gauges from Bill B, but you can make you own with a wooden dowel, I recon.)

Beam plates...Wouldn't be w/o them!
