Greetings
I need to start looking for wheels and tires for my 87. I'm thinking about something other than the standard G.S. type rim. I know about the 38mm offset for my year car but what would the backspacing be for something in the 8 to 10 inch width?

there should be plenty of room use the 38mm offset.. you already should have a 8 inch wide rim stock.

Places like AFS do a ZR1 copy 17" X 11" or 9" in the correct offset for '84-'87 cars

I have American Racing Torq Thrust Ms that are 17x10.5 with a 44mm offset. They stick out a bit on my '90 but would prebably fit well on your '87 as well.
