Starter won't turn over...clutch safety switch?
Hello all! I have a 91 6 speed. where is the switch that disables/enables the starter from turning over? i recently replaced my clutch, flywheel and both master & slave cylinders, and i think that my slave cylinder isnt traveling far enough to disengage it. Sometimes, if i press really hard, it'll turn over. anyone ever had this problem before? Thanks!

Switch is on clutch pedal.
If you can't adjust it correctly , jumper the 2 wires in the plug and remember to put in neutral before you start

On manual transmissions, there is a switch activated by the clutch pedal and it is called the clutch start switch. On automatics there is a switch activated by the gear selector lever at the base of the lever and it is called the transmission position switch. Both will not allow the circuit to the starter solenoid to be complete if the clutch is not depressed or if the auto trans is not in the park or neutral position. As already explained, unplug the clutch switch and jump the socket if you suspect that the switch is defective.
If it still won't crank, then you will have to investigate the VATS system.

The switch that sits above my clutch peddle on my 86 C4 is the cruise control cut-out switch. (I proved this by removing the switch.) I have yet to find the switch that disables the starter when the clutch is not depressed.

Nope the clutch switch is higher than the cruise release switch at least on my 85
.. Its way the heck up there..on the clutch pedal.. you can barely see it.. Mine did this also when I replaced the clutch master cylinder.. It is actually connected to the pedal with a small wire rod. I dont have My FSM handy but it describes it pretty well in there.
It is a PITA to reach.. I took the end panel off the dash so I could see in there.

95 C4 6-speed. Yeah the switch is way up there. I could not really see more than a part of it. I did see two black wires drooping down, that were like 18 gauge (in other words thicker than usual), that went into a connector with a purple and a yellow wire. Thanks to the comment above I knew that was it. I stripped a bit off the purple and yellow (below the connector, which I left attached), twisted them together, covered with friction tape. So far so good! It is way more convenient on a hot day now to pull the shifter into neutral, and just turn the key to get the engine on, and the A/C going, w/o having to climb into my 180 degree oven, er, I mean seat, to depress the clutch pedal. Thx !
