Hi everyone, I'm thinking of building a sub for my 89. I've got a giant, behemoth, store bought box which takes up most of the usable space. I'd like to see what you all have done with yours. I tried searching but the search function won't let me use C4 and Sub because of too many results. Let's see whats out there.
This won't help you but I have a vert and when I tore out the Blose and I wanted to put in some sort of sub even though there are very limited options for one in a Vert. I tried the Kenwood KSC-SW10 but it sucked big time as it came DOA. After returning it twice, I finally got a refund. Now I have the Boss Audio BASS600 8-Inch Low-Profile which is designed to go under your seat but it would not fit under sports seats. But it does work and is better than nothing and fits in the back without taking up much space.
But either of those will disappoint anyone that is used to having a big box sub.
I know this may draw a chuckle since I have two 12" hammer subs in my 89 Formula and love the way it hits we ended up just adding a Boss 8" amplified sub in our 86 Corvette with the Bose system. With as little room as there is back there anyway I couldn't adding a sub and an amp back there which would pile drive the Bose system anyway. For under $100 it does the job very well and does not take up much space at all. http://www.amazon.com/Boss-BASS600-L.../dp/B000OSZA44
I won't argue an 8" would be enough for the small cabin of the C4.
Agent, with carpet installed can you also install the grills? What does the rest of your box look like? That's a great way to keep the sound stage in the front!

Yes, I used all the factory grilles. I recently replaced the door grilles with the Focal grilles mounted to 1/4" plate aluminum, and will do something similar for the rears, as they look like crap.
As for the sub box, I'm using the factory enclosure with wood mounts for the subs.

Just think about all of the knowledge you gained on trying to salvage your Bose that was all for nothing. lol
Kidding aside that is a nice setup. I have had my moments of thinking "SCREWTHE BOSE" and ripping it out to do what you have but the wife likes the stock look.
I installed a "False Floor", housing the Hifonics Zeus 4 channel amp and 10" bazooka tube. The roof panel can still be stored in the hatch area and everything is hidden when the cargo shade is used.
