I am not a big fan of the C5 as I have stated many times, but I saw a C5 at one of my customer's dealership today so I stopped to look for grins. It was a red 1999 coupe, auto and 69K miles and looked real nice. It was spotless inside and out and had an asking price of $14,900 and I could have driven it off the lot for $13,500. Even said he would give me $7K for my 93 so I know he had more room in it.
I drove it and even considered it for a brief moment until I realized it just felt like a VERY fast used Taurus.

Well you already said you don't like C-5's so what is the effort of trying it out and cutting the price down? Plus if you like a Taurus, go to a Ford dealer and buy one?

Chill out guy, I wasn't cutting the price down, I was simply trying to say I was shocked how cheap it was. It was cheap enough to make me take it for a drive. Holy cow, don't know where your response came from but get over it.
FYI, look in the background, I do own a Taurus and quite frankly it's a great car for it's intended purpose, it just shouldn't go 150 mph
As we all know the C4 vs. C5 debate is constant here, but not not so much on the C5 section (wonder why ).
I've said it before and I will say it again when this topic comes up in another week. I have daily driven both a Z51 C4 and now a C5 Z06. When I upgraded (yes, it was a big upgrade) I was originally disappointed with the C5, it's driving characteristics, it's tame nature, and it's differences from the feel of the C4. The C4 drives like a go-kart on steroids. It is also very fun to drive. when I was originally disappointed, I couldn't believe how much better the C4 handled. Then I noticed that I was going WAY faster with half of the effort. What makes a better sports car? Is it to drive around and feel like you are in a rocket even when you are going slow or it it to actually go fast with precision and control? Your answer to that is the answer to the question of C4 or C5.

I know! Funny thing is that over on the C5 side I talk about the old C4 with way less than $20,000 in it that constantly hands C5s their azz on a track. Funny how that works. You see which one is in my avatar...

To be clear, I was not doing a comparison of the C4 to the C5, just a simple statement on my shock over the low cost. I've driven both, made my decision, but if I were to jump ship this would be a great car to jump with.
Instead, I think I'll supercharge my Taurus, tweek the suspension, put some big rubber under it, upgrade the brakes and make it go 150 mph. It won't look like a C5 but it will feel like one.

...and I'll put doors on a go-kart. Won't look like a C4, but it will feel like one.
Yes, C5 prices are amazingly low. Hopefully they are still there when I want to upgrade the track car. I've seen some deals on C6s that are just crazy also. Yay economy.

Why do I start threads here? Never thought a comment on how low I saw a C5 going for would get so many C4 guys worked up.

I think it was your comment about the C5 being just like a Taurus, You need to lose your biasness and try a C5 for what it really is, I like all corvette, Yes, Even the C4, But to put down the C5 and sayn it is a Taurus is just wrong. I don't put down any Vettes, I am a Vette person at heart..

Sorry, I have driven many, many C5's trying to like one enough to buy it. I want to like it, I just have not been able to get that warm and fuzzy feeling for one yet. I like the looks but it feels way to soft and refined. I'm also a C3 guy so I guess I like the rough ride and "seat of the pants" feel. You just don't get that in a C5. I've owned many Vettes and I appreciate what a C5 is, I just don't like it as well as the C4 or C6, I'll probably skip the C5 and jump to a C6 in a year or two.
Let me just apologize up front to any C5 owners, but I have yet to drive one that felt any different than sitting in the leather bucket seats of my Taurus when going down the highway, the scenery just goes by faster.

Maybe you're just used to the rough edges of the previous gens, that it's hard to appreciate the quality of the C5/C6 ride. Not a bad thing, I'll always love the C4's enclosed feeling over any other Corvette.
The fact that you own a Taurus should have been a good hint that you have taste in cars that I wouldn't agree with.
Your point is? Do you think your opinion of what I own matters to me, get a grip. You don't know what cars I own, there's more in the garage than a Taurus.
This post kind of follows most of your posts, you have a very high opinion of yourself.
