Default Missing my C4

I've had my 2008 since august. For some reason, i miss my 92 vette very bad. I'm not sure why though, I just miss it. I had it for 8.5 years.

I love the C6, and would never replace it. But I'm looking at C4 classifieds again...

How much would a 85-88 C4 that needs some TLC run?

C'mon back. I did the same thing, after owning a C5 for about a year. Story and pictures in link below:

I don't want to sell the C6. I love it too much. I think my wife would kill me if i bought another though. I understand completely what you mean by the C4 experience. That car is an experience from the doors unlocking, to splashing down in the cockpit.

I bought a 2008 coupe, 4LT, npp exhaust and much more in October. I bought it for long trips. It is great and I plan on taking many trips in it, but my 95 vert is much more fun to drive. I was going to sell my 95, now looking at ways to keep it. I don't have the space!

I had my wife's 07 out today to tank up and get the charger and it was a blast to drive. But my C-4 has a different feel to it and it's more fun to drive on the back roads.

I will eventually buy newer corvettes for the performance and reliability but I will always keep a C4.

I hope this isn't a hijack but...I've had my '85 for a little over a year now. It's my first Vette. I love it. It was very affordable. It has given me only minor problems with very little $ to fix. All the fixing I've done myself. It needs some shocks, bushing replacement, maybe ball joints and u-joints. But none of these right away. I've only driven a C5 once and it was years ago. Maybe I need some elaboration on the the ('missing')of the C4. I'd 'upgrade' to a C5 in a second if I could afford it but even the term 'upgrade' is used very loosely here. What am I missing or I'm not? What makes you want to come back? Thanks

I took a nice 'spirited crise' in my '91 ZR-1 this afternoon. There's something about climbing-down over the high side sills, and "wearing" the C4...as it "envelops" you. In my experience, my C4 feels like much more of a 'sports car' than the C5 does.

In the case of a ZR-1, you get much more of a mechanical feel, as you wind-up through the gears....and you feel the 32 valve dohc LT5 pulling like crazy... screaming to its redline...!! Awesome..!! I would not trade the "rush" you get with one of these "Zs" for anything.

If you have to ask, then go get your C5

much like the OP, i have an 08, but for 12 years, i had an 85 as a DD. last year, my son took over ownership, and i got to tell you, i really missed that car - more so, than any other corvette i had in the past. having said that, i made it less than 6 months until i went out and bought another C4 (90 steel blue coupe). i'm probably one of the few that enjoys driving a C4 as much, if not more than a C6 (or a C5 for that fact). time has past the technology, but you know, they still are really are "super" cars -

I drove a couple of C5s, but never owned one, so I may not have it quite right, but here's my compare/contrast:

First, the C5 is a superior car based on specs. There's no debate there.

The C5 doesn't seem to have the torque grunt of a C4. It's more refined. The C4 is more like an older muscle car in it's launch.

The C5 is comfortable, and seems to ride more like a sedan. Not that it doesn't have any sports car feel, it's just that if you get out of a C4 and get into a C5, you'll feel like you got into a Nissan Maxima, or something like that. Some say the C4 is more raw. However you want to look at it the ride is quite a bit different between the two.

The feeling just sitting in the cars is different too. The C4 is down, in and around you. The C5 is a bit more roomy, so it doesn't hug you the same way. I have an older C4, and I will say, the dash from my car to a C5 is like going from an old arcade video game to a new computer. The C5's dash is nice, but the old C4s have their charm.

Default Thanks Relic

That was more of the opinion/answer that I was looking for. I was making sure that I wasn't going to make the wrong decision in the future. I don't have the funds to own both of them or it wouldn't be an issue. I didn't want to get rid of one only to find out I've made a mistake.

My dad had a 91 ZR-1 brand new and I think I may have been drawn to my 95 LT1 coupe for sentimental reasons associated with borrowing that car occasionally. My 95 does not have the LT5 sound though. I miss that, but do appreciate my C4 for what it does right.

I had a '95 Torch Red Vert and had to have a new one, so I bought a 2006 Victory Red 3LT Vert (it was new then). I sold the '95 because a friend of mine was nagging me about it and I did not really the space to park it safely.

I sold it and missed it. A year and a half later my buddy said he had to sell it. I did not even think about it. My wife said it was fine but something had to go until we got a bigger garage. I sold the C6.

The only thing I miss about it is the Nav, the automatic top, and the gas mileage.

I do not know if this has anything to do with it, but my wife loved to drive the C6. She will not drive the C4.

I am currently looking for a bigger garage.
