Default Front Spoiler Replacement

I am going to replace the front spoiler on my 86. Currently have the long (4-1/4") version, but want to replace it with the short (3-1/2") version. My general understanding has been that from 84-90, the base models came with the short version and the Z51 packages had the long version. Mine is a base model. The long version currently on the car might have been a replacement along the way, but one supplier's website indicates that for some reason, all the 86 models came with the longer version. Can anyone confirm this and is there any reason why I couldn't put the short version on my 86? Thanks.

If your talking about the plastic spoiler below the bumper, they come in three sections, one at each end and the longer under the radiator. The GM original/replacement is not as tall as the replacements, I think about one inch. I purchased the replacement for my 1990 and didn't like the look. I than acquired the GM replacement even though it cost more.

Yes, I do mean the three-section unit below the bumper. I understand that the three pieces come in long and short versions and want to replace the longer one that's currently on my 86 with the shorter version. Thanks for your feedback.

Where can I get the 4+" version - I wound up getting the short version and can't get small enough brake ducts to fit.

If they fit I'll swap you my short outside pieces for your long outside pieces.
I'm pretty sure the center is different.

Ecklers has both the long and short versions. I think the corners are $10 each and the middle is $20. I just replaced my Z51 middle piece in the spring and the corners are next.

I believe Eckler's, Mid-America and Corvette America all offer the long and short versions for 84-90, but the design seems to have changed in 91 and they don't appear to be compatible.
